No School for Students- April 10
Grade 3 MCAP Testing on Thursday and Friday
Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
Tomorrow we will have our eclipse viewing event at Wims. Thank you to those who signed up for the event via the Google Form. Students must bring their own solar viewing glasses. The glasses should meet the international standard of ISO 12312-2. Regular sunglasses will not be acceptable for students to use. For parents coming to the school to view with their child and/or volunteer, please see the email I sent out earlier this evening (also posted below).
As a reminder, we are wrapping up Marking Period 3 this week. Therefore, there is no school for students on Wednesday due to a professional day for our staff.
Finally, state testing (MCAP) will begin this week. Check the banner above this message for more specific information each week.
Have a great evening!
-Mr. Burns
Parent Information- Eclipse Viewing
I wanted to provide an update regarding our eclipse watching event at Wims. We have over 200 students and 60 parents (25 volunteers) who signed up and will be participating in the event. Below is our schedule of events:
2:10-2:15 p.m.- Parents check in the front office. We will have a list of all the parents who signed up to attend the event via the Google Form. To expedite the check-in, you will just need to provide your name to our front office team. After checking in, you will head to the APR room where Mr. Burns will provide directions to the parents. Parents then will be led out to the specific grade-level locations outside. If you signed up to volunteer, you will remain in the APR to support when the students enter the APR.
2:30 p.m.- Students arrive in the APR and receive directions from Mr. Burns. Volunteers and staff will lead students out to the specified locations outside. Students will return to the building around 3:00 p.m. to get ready for dismissal.
Dismissal- If a parent would like to take their student home directly after the watching event, the student will enter back into the building and meet the parent at the front of the building. Please let your child's teacher know that your child will be dismissed immediately following the eclipse event. Our front office team will indicate on the check-in form that you are taking your child home.

From the PTA Board
Dear Families,
We hope everyone had a great weekend. While it’s still a bit cold, it was nice to see a little sunshine after an entire week of rain.
We have a very special plea for help: LOTS of volunteers are needed to successfully pull off the Variety Show. This is an important evening for our talented Wildcats who are working so hard to prepare their acts. If you can find some time to volunteer, it would be so appreciated! We are especially in need of a SOUND ENGINEER. Some experience with a sound board would be great, but anyone with the ability to operate a basic sound board could fill this important role. If you or someone in your family, a neighbor, or friend has the ability to help us, please contact Kaydene at varietyshow@wwespta.org. Thank you in advance!
Registration is still OPEN for spring after-school programming, which is set to begin this week. If a certain level of interest is not achieved, the programs do stand to be canceled, so if your student is interested, please sign them up ASAP! More information is shared below.
We are still in need of help from our K-4th families for our 5th grade promotion night. This is your chance to give these students the send off they deserve, as they leave Wilson Wims and head to middle school. We are asking especially our 4th grade families to pay it forward, as your students will be receiving their own promotion next year. If you are able to help, please sign up here.
Finally, remember to take a night off from preparing dinner and take the family to Mickey D’s on Tuesday to support our school. From 5-8pm, mention Wilson Wims and 15% of your order will go to the school. More information is below.
