JACKSON JOURNAL
DECEMBER 2021
Principal's Corner
What does it take for teachers to survive the month of December with kids whose heads are filled with thoughts of Santa Claus, presents, that crazy Elf on the Shelf, candy, and more presents? A Holiday Miracle!!!!
We have some fun Spirit Days coming up the week prior to the winter break. Be sure to read closely the "Important Dates" section at the bottom of the newsletter so you are prepared! Please remember all Spirit Days are optional and we always have a number of students who participate and a number of students who don't. Regardless of what you and your child choose, they will not be alone.
Unfortunately, we've seen a recent uptick in positive Covid cases in both buildings over the past week. I'd like to remind parents to sign up for Test and Stay if you have not done so already. This will allow your child to continue to attend school should he/she become a close contact of a positive individual at school...provided your child remains negative through the Test and Stay period. See the Health and Wellness section for more details and the link for how to sign up.
I also ask that all families remain patient and show office staff grace if you get the dreaded phone call that your child is a close contact. We do not like making these phone calls because we truly understand how stressful it can be for families to quarantine their child(ren) outside of school and disrupt your usual drop-off routine during the Test and Stay period. The health and safety of our community is our priority and we have to adhere to the protocols set forth by the Department of Public Health and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
I'd like to wish all families a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season!
Love,
Mrs. Robbins

Health and Wellness
Just a reminder to those who took advantage of the Covid Clinic, the second session will be held on December 13 at KPMS cafeteria. If your child is fully vaccinated, please feel free to notify the school nurse as COVID protocols for quarantining as a close contact differs for vaccinated individuals. Mrs. Lesure can be reached at alesure@plainville.k12.ma.us.
There is also still time to sign up for the Test and Stay program that affords close contacts in school a rapid test to stay in school (with negative results.) If you haven't already signed up, but would like to participate in the Test and Stay program, below is the link. Please note that it takes 24 hours for the information to register in our system. Only those who have signed up will be eligible for the Test and Stay. Signing up NOW will save you a possible trip to the school to fill out a paper permission slip should your child become a close contact to a positive individual.
