What is the actual cause of the Aurora Borealis?
The Aurora Borealis is caused by collisions in the Earth's atmosphere. The chanrged particles release from the sun's atmosphere.
Is there a best place geographically to see them?
In Luosta(Northern Finland) every time before the northern lights show there is a Aurora Alarm that goes off to tell the people that they are going to go off.
Is there a best time of year to see them?
You can see them form December to the end of April. It happens about 3 to 5 nights a weeks.
What is the difference between Aurora Borealis and the Aurora Austrais? Similarities?
The difference is that Aurora Borealis is that it is in the Northern hemisphere. The Aurora Austrais is in the Southern hemisphere. The similarities are they are the same thing and they follow the symmetric magnetic field lines.
How could someone forecast when the Auroras will occur?
They say it is much easier to predict the Auroras than the weather. There is no method to determine exactly when an aurora will appear in the sky.
What causes the different colors of the northern lights?
The color of the aurora depends on which gas is being excited
and on how much energy is being exchanged.
