The Heritage Herald

Hello HMS Parents,
If you ordered a school sweatshirt, your child will bring it home today! Information regarding a second order will be sent home at a later date.
During Curriculum Night, I promised to share information on how to apply parental controls to snapchat. That information is below. As I mentioned during Curriculum Night, the best way to avoid social media issues is to remove the apps from your child's phone, as children are often not able to navigate the adult-like situations that accompany social media platforms. Please read the additional article on social media that's also in this newsletter.
Happy Fall,
Mrs. Malone

END OF TRIMESTER CELEBRATION!
September 23, 2022
To: HMS Students and Families,
End of trimester celebrations for positive behaviors are continuing at Heritage Middle School! To celebrate the end of a fantastic first trimester, our grade levels will be going to The Little Red Schoolhouse in November.
To be eligible to attend this celebration, from today forward, every student who plans to attend must not receive more than two majors. In addition, ONE major for ANY of the prohibited behaviors listed in section 6.30 of the student/parent handbook, will AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFY a student from attending this trimester celebration.
Teachers will review section 6.30 in the student/parent handbook again. If students are not able to attend end of trimester celebrations due to majors or conduct, they will remain at school for the day, completing work assigned by their grade level teachers.
We look forward to celebrating a great year at Heritage this year!

6th Grade Parents--PLEASE READ!
Dear Parent/Guardian
Please take a moment to make sure your child in 6th grade completed state required medical exams and vaccinations.
Per Illinois State law students need to complete Physical Exam, Tdap and Meningitis vaccination as well as Dental exam.
If you did not complete the above paperwork or did not provide it to school, it is now overdue.
Please arrange doctor's appointments ASAP to comply with the state law, keep our students healthy, and avoid exclusions after 10/15/22. If you have the required paperwork, please provide it to the school immediately.
