Fox Family Focus
Week of January 30, 2022
Greetings Fox Families!
This is Anita Roane, your principal with this week’s announcements and reminders. I am glad the snow decided it wouldn’t hang around long this time. Hopefully, everyone is enjoying a wonderful weekend and is ready for the week ahead.
Encourage learning and movement with this simple number recognition activity. All you need to get started is paper and a pencil!
Let’s get started:
- Step 1: Adults should write numbers on paper, and hide them around the home. Hiding spots might include under couch cushions, behind open doors, in the fridge, or taped on walls above a child’s eye level.
- Step 2: Ask children to search for a particular number. When they find it (or another number), they should say the number’s name, and draw it in the air. Then, have children do that number of movements such as jumping jacks or lunges.
- Step 3: Have children continue searching until all the numbers have been found.
Hip, Hip, Hooray for the 100th day! Yes, it is coming up this week. A lot of classes are planning some fun activities for February 2nd as we celebrate being in school for 100 days. I am happy to announce something new for us this year it will be an added bonus for counting fun and so much more as we celebrate the 101st day. So get those spotted or polka dot outfits ready and channel your 101 Dalmations energy! Come to school on February 3rd ready to be spotted!
We are excited to announce that we are now accepting Pre-School applications for the 2022 - 2023 school year. If your child will be 4 years old by September 30th, 2022 he/she may be eligible to enroll in our program. Call 540-603-9290 or visit preschool.lcps.k12.va.us to get your application started!
Interims will not go out to elementary students on Friday. You will be contacted by your child’s teacher if there are any major changes since the report card that was recently sent home or if a retention conference is needed in the near future. As always if you want to hold a conference with your child’s teacher please communicate that with the teacher at any time.
Lastly parents, at the Home of the Foxes as you can tell by the emails you have been receiving, we are still having active cases per day. Currently, students wearing a mask in the classroom have had less of a chance of quarantines due to exposure when we are identifying close contacts in the school. I ask you to strongly consider this and keep it in mind at this time while cases are so high when sending your child to school tomorrow. As a reminder, no matter what choice you make please remember you need to have that conversation with your child as the parent or guardian and remind them to either keep their mask on and wear it properly or not to wear it. Also, all students are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect no matter what choice you have made. Please let me know if you have any questions.
