HBMS Community Connections - New Program
From HBMS Principal Tom Payne:
Since taking this job as the principal of the best middle school in Texas, I have wanted to find better ways to reach out to the HB community and have meaningful discussions about issues that matter to all of us. I have thousands of discussions with parents each year, and I'm surprised at times with the disconnect between school and home, or just the lack of knowledge some parents have over the ever-changing rapids that is raising a teenager. It is hard to keep up with these students and they are not always that concerned with helping us out! Issues like vaping, drugs, misuse of technology, and eating disorders are just a few of the stockpiled warehouse full of topics that I would love to address with the HB community. HBMS being aligned with our students' families will undoubtedly help us all raise these wonderful students into happy responsible adults. For this reason, I am going to start a program called HBMS Community Connections. Read more...
School Attendance Zones Update
The School Attendance Zone Advisory Committee has spent weeks analyzing and interpreting demographic data, student enrollment trends and projections, and the results of our recent Thoughexchange, along with creating and evaluating a number of options for possible new school attendance zones. At this point in the process, the committee is pleased to share draft maps for community feedback. The committee would like input on two possible options for new middle school boundaries and two possible options for new elementary school boundaries.
It is important to note the proposals are unofficial, draft maps which have yet to be presented to the Lake Travis school board. We fully anticipate that the maps may need further revision based upon community feedback. The School Attendance Zone Advisory committee will review all feedback received to reevaluate options and meet district needs. Only one attendance zone map for elementary school boundaries and one attendance zone map for middle school boundaries will be presented to the school board in mid-April.
The map options can be accessed on the LTISD website via the School Attendance Zones icon at the top of the district homepage.
Should you have questions, concerns, or general comments regarding the map options, you may complete the online Public Comment Google Form. Public comments will be accepted electronically through Friday, April 5.
