Irmo XC Represents in the Shrine Bowl
Congratulations to our runners who were selected for the Shrine Bowl Run Team for 2021!
Jovan Figueroa and Carina Burdick were among the top senior cross country runners in the state to qualify for the annual Mike Moore Shrine Bowl. The relay run took place Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Columbia International University.
This annual event is used to honor top graduating runners as well as help the Shriners raise money for their hospitals for crippled and burned children. The SCTCCCA would like to thank the Jamil Temple of the SC Shriners for the opportunity to honor our senior runners and for the chance to help in their fundraising efforts. The Shrine Bowl Run is held in memory of its founder and 20 year organizer, Mr. Everett Stoudenmire. The Shrine Bowl Run in South Carolina was started in 1986 by Everett Stoudenmire, with the help of the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Shrine Bowl runners are escorted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol from the Shriner's Hospital in Greenville to the Wofford College football stadium in Spartanburg, where the Shrine Bowl football game takes place. The game was canceled for 2020 and 2021 due to COVID.
