As Red Ribbon Week is fast approaching we have an extra special week planned. Please help us say NO to drugs in many different ways.

- Wednesday - Wear Red

What is a Custodian???
Webster’s definition of a custodian is:
cus•to•dian (kes tō’dē en) noun:
1. One that has charge of something: a caretaker.
Central’s definition of a custodian is: B•O•B (the mân) noun:
To us ‘Mr. Bob’, as the kids like to call him, is so much more than just a ’custodian’. Just as you are so much more than ‘just a stay at home mom (or dad)’, or ‘just a waitress’ or ‘just an aide’ or ‘just’ anything...
Have you ever noticed how dirty our building ISN’T? Probably not, because it’s always immaculate. Central is an old building, but it looks great. That is all thanks to Mr. Bob. We are so fortunate to have him, he truly is a diamond in the rough.
Not only does he keep our building looking great, he does so much more. He is a translator for our Spanish speaking families. He does this out of the kindness of his heart. He offers his assistance to so many families at registration without even being asked. He patiently sits with many new families to assist them with their paperwork. Many families that call the school just ask for ‘Roberto’. If we didn’t have him, we wouldn’t be able to communicate as effectively with some of our families.
Bob has such a wonderful, approachable personality, the staff here loves him. He looks out for the kids and watches over them with a kind heart. He treats your children how you hope they would be treated. I have seen him on many different occasions slowly sweeping the floor, looking for a lost tooth that someone is just heartbroken over losing. He always seems to find it. He’s just amazing!
Each of us has a ‘job’, some people go to work for a paycheck and some people truly love what they do. It’s very apparent he loves what he does and it shows through our school. So next time you come into school and you see Mr. Bob, shake his hand, heck, give him a hug and remember, he’s not ‘just a custodian’ to us.
Harvest Fest Fun
Whether you enjoyed the costumes, bingo, crafts, story time or were fortunate enough to go home with a fabulous cake, this year’s Harvest Fest was a fun packed night for all! Thank you to Mrs. Jessica De Kock and all the volunteers who put so much time and effort to making the event such an enormous success!
Can you help?
Often times students spill something on themselves at lunch, get wet or muddy at recess and need a change of clothes. We need donations for the following items in sizes 4/6 to 8/10:
Boys
Sweat Pants
Shirts

Socks (new please
Girls

Also, if your child happens to come home in a different clothing, please wash the borrowed clothes and send them back in to the nurses office. Thank you so much!!!
Spell Bowl Competition
Please join us on November 20th at 5:00 pm at Washington Township High School Gymnasium to support our Spell Bowl team. Our team has been practicing with Mr. Wallace everyday during lunch recess. A lot of hard work and dedication goes into preparing for the spell bowl. We wish them the best of luck!

Earn $$$ For Our School...The Easy Way
Money... It makes the world go ’round—or so they say. There are several, simple ways you can help us raise money for our school and it won’t cost you a thing. One way is do what you normally do. Shop. Target gives back a percentage of your purchases to our school. Also, you can turn in Box Tops and Campbell soup labels. Box Tops earn us cash and Campbell Labels earn us products for our school. Since Fall is here, you’ll need some
soup to warm the tummies of your children after they rake your whole lawn. (Ha,
Ha) Then, there’s the holidays, and that means shopping. Imagine how much we
could earn for our school from the purchases of all of the Central School families that
shop at Target this holiday season. Hmmmmm The good thing about the holidays is you get to eat, andeat, and eat. In order to do that you need to shop, shop and shop.
Target—Or Tarjee’ as some like to call it. First, we would like to extend a HUGE Thank You for those of you who are already participating in this program. The Target program is called TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION. Friends and family members can give as well. All you need to do to have a percentage sent to our school is:
1. Have a target RED card (i.e. Target Visa, Target Credit or Target Check/Debit Card)
2. Enroll in the TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION PROGRAM by:
-Enrolling Online at Target.com/tcoe
-Enrolling at the Kiosk at the store (it’s the same computer you use to print out a registry)
-Calling 1-800-316-6142
When you enroll, just let them know you want 1% of your purchase to go to Central Elementary in VALPO. Our school number is 50542.
Campbell’s Soup Labels—Campbell’s has several products that can earn points for our school. A list of these products is attached. Collecting labels allows us to order many unique items for the students through a Campbell’s Catalog. We can order items for recess, educational products for the classroom or something fun for Field Day.
Box Tops for Education—Box Tops ‘coupons’ are on several items. Each Box Top coupon is worth $.10, which adds up fast. A list of all items with Box Top coupons is attached. The Box Tops are collected monthly and sent in. We receive a check for the amount of Box Tops we turn in. All proceeds from Box Tops goes to our Student Council. Our student council does many wonderful service projects in our community.
So, go shopping, sharpen your scissors and, help out our school!!! Thank you in advance to all our GREAT families who do SO much for us! You are SO appreciated!!!!
