Because of fair, there will be no newsletter next week. A schedule of 4-H fair events can be found at the bottom of this newsletter.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
AWARD PUBLICITY FORMS
A friendly reminder that all publicity forms for those who received Champion or Reserve Champion awards are due to the 4-H fair office by 5pm on Sunday, August 7. Copies of the form can be found in the Exhibit Hall.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photos taken by the 4-H Staff after shows will be limited to only the Champion and Reserve winners from each show. A few backdrops are available for families to take pictures of their 4-Her's animal(s) if they wish.
RODEO TICKETS FOR 4-H MEMBERS
The Sarpy County Ag Society has generously offered one free pass to the rodeo on Friday, August 6 to all Douglas-Sarpy 4-H members. The tickets will be available during the fair at the 4-H fair office in the 4-H building on the fairgrounds. There will be a signature check-out procedure for the tickets.
EXHIBIT RELEASE TIMES
All exhibitors are expected to adhere to the exhibit release times listed below:
- STATIC EXHIBITS: Sunday, August 8 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and Monday, August 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.
- LIVESTOCK: Sunday, August 8 from 6:30 to 9 a.m. If livestock are not off the grounds by 9 a.m. they will have to stay until 6 p.m. that evening to avoid static exhibit traffic.
Walk in the Parade at Fair with 4-H
Join 4-H for the fair parade in your favorite costume!
When: Saturday, August 7 at 8:30 (parade starts at 10)
Meet at the 4-H Building at the Sarpy Fairgrounds
Prizes will be awarded for creativity and enthusiasm. No live animals please.
iEXCEL at County Fair
Join iEXCEL to experience advanced, hands-on medical training of the future! iEXCEL is the Interprofessional Experiential Center for Enduring Learning program at UNMC using technology and simulation to improve healthcare training. Life-like simulation scenarios using robotics, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), as well as 3D imaging allow learners to practice and hone their skills. Stop by the iEXCEL station to see how we use AR/VR and other cutting-edge technology used in new and exciting ways!

Heritage exhibits must include NAME, COUNTY, AGE & PAST EXPERIENCE on back of exhibit. Learn more here.
Home Environment projects need an entry tag which includes a clear description of the entry securely attached. Use color, pattern or picture descriptions to aid in identification. No straight pins. In addition to the entry tag, a label with the exhibitor’s name and county
should be attached to each separate piece of the exhibit. Learn more here.

"Ask a 4-H'er" 4-H Youth Volunteer Sign Up
"Ask a 4-H'er" is leadership opportunity to highlight their 4-H accomplishments and projects while also earning a free meal. Many people coming to the fair want to learn more about 4-H. Youth will report to the building and sign in then meet and greet the public under the "Ask a 4-H'er" sign, offer to give them a tour around the building, and promote 4-H. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. We hope to have 4-H Youth at the 4-H Static building and Livestock buildings to answer any questions and give a tour. Any youth who volunteer will receive free a meal voucher from the 4-H food stand. Contact tracey.jones@ops.org for more information.
Pie Auction - Bring a Pie, or Buy a Pie
The Douglas-Sarpy County 4-H Pie Auction will be Friday, August 6th at 5:00 pm in the Open Air Auditorium at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds.
Remember to deliver your covered pie to the 4-H office at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds on Friday, August 6th before 3:00 pm.

Adult Showmanship - Saturday Aug. 7 at the Sarpy Fair
The Adult Showmanship Contest will be open to any non- 4-H’er, 19 years of age and older. The judge of this contest will be the “Champion Showman” of that species. Contestants may use any
animal entered in the Sarpy County Fair (Cattle, Swine, Sheep, Goat)
There will be TWO divisions this year - a FUN one and a SERIOUS one! Costumes are welcome in the fun division.
Anyone wishing to participate in the Adult Showmanship Contest should register starting at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 7th in the livestock barn at the Sarpy Fairgrounds (100 Main St. Springfield).
Cost: $20 first animal, $10 for additional species (cash or check)
