Athey Notes
Week 20
Welcome to Week 20
Dear Athey Community,
We have made it to the end of the semester! This week the building is decorated in 3-D art projects and encouraging posters to help cheer everyone on to the finish line. Friday marks the last day of the quarter and we are all about getting things turned in. Please check in with your students to help them identify any missing assignments, lost library books, and any daily use Chromebooks or charging cords that accidentally went home. We also have Homework club on Tuesday and Thursday for anyone who wants to come by and get some extra help finishing assignments as well!
Next week students will beginning following their 2nd semester schedules, for most that means switching from Gym to Spanish/Chinese or vice versa as well as possibly a related arts class change. Their schedules can be found in their StudentVue App, just be sure to switch to Quarter 3 in order to see the new schedule. Any schedule change requests should be emailed to our Vice Principal, Kevin Hertel (hertelk@wlwv.k12.or.us) and must be done by FEBRUARY 1st.
As we go into this week there are a lot of fun activities that we are looking forward to - our upcoming Choir Concert, Jazz Café (our band fundraiser) and our basketball assembly when teachers take on the students!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Joel Sebastian
Athey Creek Middle School Principal

The CREST-Jane Goodall Science Symposium is the district-wide science fair, affiliated
with the Northwest Science Expo (NWSE) and the Regeneron International Science &

background in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, and are interested in
inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers, WE NEED YOU!
Judge Qualifications:
● High School Judge - MA, MS, Ph.D or Bachelor’s +3 years experience in your field
● Middle School Judge - current college student in science or science education
● Disclose whether you have any connections to students competing in the fair, you
would be assigned a category in which their project has no involvement.
● Available 9AM-4PM on Monday, February 27, 2023
As a judge, the interviews and conversations you have with students about their projects
can provide them with inspiration and encouragement that lasts a lifetime.
