New Greystone ES Grizzlies
Information for our new GES students and families
Welcome to Greystone Elementary School!
You made a great choice in joining our school community, which comprises more than 545 students, 390 families, and 50 staff members. We are a new school, having opened our doors in the Fall of 2021 and enjoy a strong, supportive school community. We look forward to having you us.
I will communicate with you often, and this newsletter is intended to provide our newer families with some helpful information. If I can ever assist you with anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Kevin Fagan, Principal
April 2023
Good morning GES incoming Kindergarten Parents,
I’m reaching out today with a couple of things.
- The first is a Sign-up Genius for Kindergarten Screenings. There are many time slots. You’ll sign up for one, bring your child to GES on that date/time, and he or she will meet with one of our staff for the screening. This is low key and nothing your child should stress about at all. The information is very helpful for our K teachers.
- I’m also again sharing this Parent Information Form. Some of you have already completed this and thank you! This information too will prove helpful to our teachers. The questions themselves will also provide you with an idea of what we are anticipating for our kindergarteners, in case there are things you want to work on between now and then, e.g., potty training, taking turns, keeping hands to self, etc.
- Last, I’m providing here some information about our full-day Kindergarten program. Several years ago, the school district shifted from half-day to full-day K.
Any questions, just let me know. Have a great spring break.

Information about student attendance
When your child is absent from school, we must have a note from you to explain the absence within 3 days of your child's return. Otherwise the absence is marked as unlawful and you will receive a letter from the office. The most efficient way for you to get us this note is via Pick-up Patrol, our student transport and attendance tracking system. Our attendance secretary, Mrs. Jackie Mangasarian, will be your contact for all things related to attendance. jmangasarian@wcasd.net or 484-266-23
Each student is allowed the following 3 types of absences.
- Parent Note - Each student is allotted 10 parent notes a year. These notes cover any absence that is not a family vacation or an illness where a child has been seen by a doctor.
- Family Vacation - Each student is allotted 5 family vacation days a year. Please use the form below to request those days off at least 5 days prior to the vacation.
- Doctor Note – If your child sees a doctor that causes them to be absent from school, simply send a note in to school with the date of the appointment and/or instructions for missing school.
Pick-up Patrol: Making communications more efficient!
A few things to note in Pick Up Patrol:
- Pick Up means you are driving through the car line to get your child after 3:30
- Early Dismissal is for when you are signing your child out before 3:30pm for any reason
- Walker means you are walking to school or parking your car and walking up to retrieve your child.
- Bus means you are sending your child home on his/her assigned bus.
