First Day of School
Cambrian School District, August 19, 2020
Dear Cambrian Families and Staff,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you back for another incredible school year here in Cambrian School District. I would like to share once again how honored I am to be Cambrian School District's Superintendent and to partner with you to support all of our students. Cambrian is a wonderful school district because of the students, committed staff and each of you. Of course, we never could have guessed the school year would start this way--in a distance learning scenario--with smoke in the air from local fires and potential power outages due to the heat wave, but we are always focused, resilient, flexible and passionate about meeting our students’ needs, whether in person or virtually, regardless of situation.
We are aware that there may be some challenges getting started--glitches in technology and potential situations due to the heat wave and local fires. This is a new adventure in learning for all of us, and it may come with some initial frustrations as we get the issues resolved and adapt to various situations. If you have obstacles getting your child logged in online and need assistance, you can reach out to our Technology Help Line (http://bit.ly/39PmbSj). We will have staff call individuals back in the order that they are received to help get your child get logged in. If you need a Chromebook or iPad for your child, please fill out this request form.
If for some reason you lose internet access during the week due to the power outages, please call the attendance line at your child’s school and let them know that your child cannot access the online learning for the day.

In regard to the local CZU August Lightning Complex fire, my heart goes out to those communities and individuals affected. In terms of protection for your health, we recommend you stay apprised of the air quality and fire location via local news, Purple Air, and Cal Fire. The air quality index is currently over 200, which is considered unhealthy. As we move forward this school year, we most certainly know we will be resilient and adapt to our ever changing situations as a community--a caring community where we encourage each other regardless of the challenges presented.
We are very proud of our district and the collaborative efforts made to impact our students for a lifetime. Cambrian School District's Strategic Plan guides our efforts. We are focused on ways to ensure that every student is offered rigorous, highly engaging learning opportunities. We will provide high-quality instruction that promotes active learning and extended learning opportunities to foster achievement and encourage a welcoming, inclusive community for everyone in the Cambrian School District.
Although we miss each of your children’s in-person classroom presence, we have a great deal to look forward to in the new school year. Though your student’s journey to the classroom consists of walking over to a computer, it’s a journey that will invariably affect your child for a lifetime. Again, I am proud and honored you are a part of our Cambrian School District community and our collective work to support all students' growth! We will bring our very best efforts to teach, engage and inspire.
We are CAMBRIAN!
