Ponder This...
So, this is my Ponder this for today. Mastering the foundations of teaching takes so much practice. By continuing to improve our core instruction by aligning all instruction to our standards, ensuring it is appropriately rigorous, and having mastery as the aim, we are ensuring our Tier One core instruction is spot on. We all know that many times students have gaps in learning not because there is a learning disability, but simply because they spent time in a classroom where the core instruction was not where it should have been. Unfortunately, if a child spends more than one year in classrooms with weak core instruction, he/she can be significantly behind academically.
Our mission is that we are ONE on a quest for excellence for ALL students at CGE. Ensuring that quality instruction happens in our four walls every single day is a must. While we are continuing to learn how to function as a PLC, use each other when you have kids who are not mastering skills. Seek out those who you believe can help. We are in this together, and we need each other. Keep your sense of urgency strong so that the time your kids spend with you will make them stronger, better, and smarter.
A Few Reminders
*Post our Mission and Vision by your door inside of your room so that we can be sure we living it each day
*Post the standards you are teaching each day/week in a prominent place in your rooms. Use this to outline the day with you kids so that they know what they will be learning.
*During your PLC meetings, you do not have to talk about math the entire time. Remember that our collaborative time is an ongoing process. Allot an amount of time to talk about your promise standards and look at how students are progressing, analyze data, etc., but look at other subjects as well. This is your time to be collaborative in all areas, not just math.
