INC - Month in Review - Dec. 2019
INCubatorEDU@Sheboygan South High School
Content is King. Engagement is the Queen, and the Lady Rules the House!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you.
...Meanwhile, the presentation of their MVP to the Board of Directors is looming.
December is certainly testing their ability to prioritize, delegate, and collaborate. As long as they keep their eyes on the ultimate goal, determine the steps to get there, and strategize how to accomplish each step, they will all be ready for MVP.
Next Month's Events and Activities
We continue our work on financials as the final component of the MVP Pitch. Students will also get a crash course in Web Design, as some teams will choose a direct to consumer sales channel. It is a very coach/mentor heavy month, as expected, with the looming MVP Pitches just around the corner.
Remember, any volunteer/parent can attend our class on any given day. Just tell the Main Office that you are here for INC. Our schedule can be found on the INCubatorEDU site.
January 3, 6-7: Pricing with Peter Haase
January 8: Initial Revenue Forecasting with Nick Hamel
January 10, 13-14: Financial Statements and Health Analysis with Tom Binversie
January 15, 17: MVP Design
January 21: Optional Mentor Day
January 22: MVP Design

Happy Holidays Everyone!
Student Spotlight - Krystof L.
Team: ZMIZET
Year: Senior
The amount of research required to start a business has already made an impact on him. He sees how important it is to make smart decisions and has enjoyed the Project Pitch It and Hatch Pitch events (he says more as a spectator than a participant).
While at South, he is participating in the cross country and swim teams. In his free time, he also enjoys to travel and ski.
Student Spotlight - Samantha N.
Year: Senior
Samantha plans to pursue business after high school but isn't really sure what area is the right fit. INC was her course choice because it really gets into a variety of business areas. She hopes it will help her narrow down her interest.
She has enjoyed the process of developing a product and designing its features and benefits. While working in a group with different personalities can sometimes be a challenge, she understands that collaboration and teamwork often results in the best outcome.
Student Spotlight - Sunny X.
Team: Beyond the Front Door
Year: Senior
Her plan after high school is to continue her education with a focus on business and media communications.
Through her experiences in INC, she has a better understanding of the passion necessary to run a business and the need for you to stay calm, develop a plan, and let the work and time make something amazing happen.
Did you Complete your Volunteer Spotlight?
Volunteer Spotlight - Peter Haase
He chose to get involved with INC because he's passionate about helping others empower themselves and, ultimately, that's what INCubatorEDU does. In addition, the ability to adapt while continuing to learn and grow are necessary skills to be successful. He considers those attributes to be his greatest professional strengths.
Advice for Students: Remember, "this too shall pass - life is always changing and a miracle is only a moment away".
Volunteer Spotlight - Nick Hamel
Coach Hamel is the People and Process Manager for Muth Mirror Systems, a Tier 2 automotive supplier, which focuses on mirrored safety devices. He will be helping students develop their first-round revenue forecasts.
Regardless of what pursuits students have after after high school, the ultimate goal is "to be the best version of oneself". By joining the INC team, he feels he can engage students to find that version within them.
Advice for Students: Ask more questions! There's nothing wrong with admitting you don't know something, as long as you're willing to learn.
Volunteer Spotlight - Amy Grinna
Coach Grinna is the Chief Information Officer for Kohler Credit Union. Her responsibilities include ensuring a reliable, secure technology platform for both KCU's employees and members. She will be coaching our students on Website Creation.
She wanted to participate in INC because she's enjoyed a career in business and wants to encourage students to explore business as a career field for themselves.
Advice for Students: You have plenty of time to figure out what you really to do. Your career will probably swerve a few times and that's okay. Embrace it. You never know what great opportunities may come your way.
