Tryouts for LCPS high school fall sports for the 2024-25 school year begin August 5, 2024. If your rising ninth grader is interested in trying out to participate in a high school sport, please read the information below.
Can my student try out for a high school sport?
All first-time ninth graders are eligible immediately to participate in VHSL Athletics and Activities for the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, eighth graders may participate in a high school sport at the sub-varsity level if they turn 14 on or before August 5, of the current school year (2024-25 school year). Eighth graders who do not meet this age requirement on or before August 1 may not participate in any high school athletic program regardless of the season.
All students must complete a VHSL physical examination after May 1, and turn it in to their school’s athletic department before participating in any tryouts, practices, weight training and conditioning.
Students also must be enrolled in at least five subjects and pass five subjects offered for credit and graduation requirements to be eligible.
How does my student sign up?
Beginning June 14, eighth graders who meet the age requirement may register for one high school sport by visiting their school’s website. Parents or guardians and students must complete the online registration process and submit their VHSL physical form (dated on or after May 1) to their high school’s athletic department.
If you have questions, please reach out to your high school’s athletic director by visiting your high school’s website.

Final Days to order!! BEMS Spirit Wear orders are open through Friday, March 15!
Spirit wear is an awesome way to support our school and look great doing it too! The Spirit Wear store is open with orders closing March 15th! Tees are available in a new design with several colors to choose from. Your order will be available for local pickup in early April.
PTO Members must LOGIN to the BEMS PTO Board Website when ordering to receive a 10% discount!
Volunteers Needed for Paint-a-Tile
BEMS PTO is seeking parent volunteers to assist with collecting the completed painted tiles. We appreciate your assistance!
The most urgent need is for Tuesday, March 19.
These volunteer opportunities are all on-site at BEMS, and due to the fragile nature of the tiles we ask that volunteers be adults (not students).
SAVE THE DATE! Riverhawk Productions presents Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach”
