Health Sciences Department and HOSA sponsors successful Blood Drive for Cabarrus County Community!
Central Cabarrus High School collected 96 units of blood and 3 units of plasma. HOSA had 197 students signed up to participate. 153 students presented to the gym. 44 students were unable to donate due to one of the following: underweight, elevated pulse rate, low hemoglobin level or medical history. CCHS has been one of the highest contributors to the blood bank. Central Cabarrus High School averages 300-315 units per year.

Central Cabarrus Business Department raises $1000 for Hurricane Relief in North Carolina
The Business Department at Central Cabarrus High School raised $1000.00 for the hurricane relief for Concord Chapter of Red Cross by creating a school-based enterprise as a Problem-based Learning Initiative (PBL). Career and Technical Education Coordinator for the Central Cabarrus Feeder Zone Brian Elliott said that “Our Career and Technical Education Program prepares our students for the importance of social responsibility and giving back to the community through relative and hands on learning opportunities.” Central Cabarrus Business Teacher, Mrs. Irene Porter, spearheaded this initiative when her business students along with the school chapter of Future Business Leaders of America. Students developed a plan to address the community problem which resulted from the recent hurricanes that tormented North Carolina. The business students decided to make this a schoolwide initiative. Irene Porter said, “This was a student-ran community service project which taught students the importance of giving back along with various business concepts associated with a non-profit management in this school-based enterprise (SBE) simulation.
Brian Elliott named the Career Guidance Professional of the Year for the North Carolina Southwest Region
Mr. Brian Elliott was awarded the 2018 Career Guidance Professional of the Year (CGPOY) for the NC Southwest Region by the North Carolina Association of CTE (NCACTE) Educators at the NCDPI Summer CTE Conference on July 24, 2018. This year's conference had over 3,000 participants from across North Carolina. The Southwest Region includes the following counties: Anson, Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Kannapolis, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Mooresville, Rowan, Stanley and Union. This distinguished award recognizes school counselors and career development professionals who have demonstrated commitment to connecting students with opportunities for success, shown innovation in career exploration and development, and have advocated for CTE as a viable option for all students. Mr. Elliott will compete against the other state regional winners for the North Carolina Career Guidance Professional of the Year Award.

Central Cabarrus Future Farmers of America (FFA) attends National Conference in Indianpolis, Indiana
The 91st National FFA Convention & Expo drew a record 69,944 attendees to Indianapolis!
National FFA is the premier youth organization dedicated to preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. Central Cabarrus High School sent a delegation team of five students to participate in this extraordinary experience. Our local chapter advisors are Ms. Adams and Ms. Potter.
