Spanish-English Biliteracy Transfer (SEBT) Professional Learning Institute
Are you teaching in a Dual Language Bilingual (DLI) Spanish-English setting? This is for you!
SEBT provides guidance for teachers as they help their students reach grade-level literacy in both Spanish and English, through coherent biliteracy transfer instruction of foundational reading skills aligned to the CCSS and CCSS en Español.
SEBT offers a set of assessments specifically designed for transferability of foundational reading skills.

Understand scientifically-based reading research in bilingual school contexts
Learn models of how to teach English literacy by harnessing students' Spanish language arts content that prepares students for the English literacy instruction

Plan and practice instruction using a bi-literacy transfer approach

Rogelio Hernández-Aviles
I am an instructional coach and a support provider for new teachers for Fresno Unified School District. My teaching experience includes teaching in elementary schools in rural areas of Mexico and teaching in transitional bilingual classrooms in Fresno Unified School District. My commitment as an educator has led me to collaborate with the California Reading and Literature Project to facilitate Spanish Institutes for bilingual teachers and co-teach along with Fresno State University professors as part of the Fresno Unified Teacher Residency Program. My mission is to collaborate with teachers to improve their practices to better serve our children.

López is a first generation college graduate with a 17-year background in teaching, curriculum development, policy implementation, teacher skill development, budget administration in line with district and state standards, repeatedly successful in leading major initiatives critical to institutional growth and student/ teacher development, as well as incorporating innovative technologies to enhance instruction and increase student engagement. Patricia has encouraged a lifelong love of learning with all stakeholders and communities.
