State Testing
Preparing for State Testing for Grades 3rd-6th
Teachers will begin preparing students for state testing this week. State testing begins on Monday, April 15th.
This week Students will:
Practice logging into the testing portal.
Taking practice tests.
Revisiting important state standards.
Engage in our favorite assembly from our friends at BMX on Friday. This assembly reminds students to be positive, work hard, and to do their absolute best during testing.
See below for steps to take at home to support your child during testing.
On Test Day (and everyday!)
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
It is recommended children in elementary and middle school should get between 9-12 hours of sleep (Teens should get between 8-10 hours of sleep).
Offer your child a source of protein and whole grains for a test day breakfast.
Yogurt, toast, oatmeal, a cheese stick, or eggs are great options.
If your child has a “nervous” stomach, you could offer a smoothie with fruit or child friendly protein powder or a granola bar.
Pick food items that are not too high in sugar to limit a possible energy crash during the test.
Make sure your child is prepared.
After Testing
Remind your child that testing does not define their skills as an individual.
Discuss with them that information is being obtained from testing to develop their strengths and support their weaknesses.
Celebrate the effort your child put forth and congratulate them on doing their best.
Picking Up / Dropping Off Students
As a safety reminder, when picking up or dropping off your student, please pull as far forward as possible when in line with your vehicle. This supports a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.
🚗 Parents should stay in their vehicles during this time, and they should not leave a vehicle unattended at any time. If you need help, a staff member will be happy to assist you.
