6th Grade Civilization Showcase
Sixth graders recently learned about the seven characteristics of civilization in Social Studies. They were asked to merge their knowledge of the social studies curriculum and their research writing unit. Students conducted research with the Central Bucks Research Model and composed a research paper that connects their chosen country to a characteristic of civilization (stable food supply, social structure, system of government, religious system, the arts, technology & writing system). After developing a thesis and writing a successful paper that supports it, students created a product to share with an authentic audience. The projects allow students to showcase their own talents and expand upon their written work. Parents, administrators, and fellow teachers were invited to come celebrate our student's cross-curricular work and learn how the characteristics of civilization are represented in countries throughout the world. We are very proud of their hard work.
This was such a great event we had multiple curricular supervisors and administrators join us. We were also highlighted in the video series Classroom in Focus. You can watch our video here.
Important Attendance Information from Pupil Services

Calling All Volunteers: NEW sign up links added
Our Fall events were a lot of fun and very well attended. In order for our winter and spring events to happen we need volunteers. You can volunteer for one event or many. There are different opportunities for each one. Some events involve time but many involve things you can do at home, such as organizing, baking, making, or collecting. Below is a list of upcoming events for which we still need volunteers. Please reach out to our HSA board members to get involved, pinerunelemhsa@gmail.com or sign up using the links below.

No advanced sign-up is necessary. We kindly ask that you do not line up before 4:30 so as not to interfere with our student dismissal, and that you do not block our neighbors’ driveways. If you do line up during our student dismissal, you will be kindly asked to leave. Also, do not pull forward until you are certain that you have enough room and will not block someone’s driveway. Our neighbors are very understanding and supportive of our work, but also need to come and go during our events. We hope to see many families at our food distribution.
