Motivating and preparing all students to reach their greatest potential
TAG Program Update
It's been a busy year for our TAG program. In December all staff K-12 received training in "profiles of gifted learners." This training focused on the diversity of the gifted population, and has led to an increase in the number of referrals for TAG evaluations this Spring. We also implemented the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) as a universal screener at third grade. This Fall our staff will have the opportunity to attend a professional development session focusing on instructional strategies for high achieving students. We currently have 105 students K-12 identified as TAG, which is 8.7% of the student population.
We're All in this Together - Global Collaboration!
Siuslaw High School students are connecting virtually with students in Monquegua, Peru and St. Louis, Missouri to learn about language, culture, sustainability, and create digital multi-genre pieces together! This is part of the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms collaboration led by our K-12 District Teacher Librarian, Jennifer McKenzie. Check out the "Kind Eyes" project that is part of this collaboration. These images will be digitized via a website and the physical project will be on display at ISTE Live 24 in Denver, Colorado in June!
