LOTS of Information - Please Read
Message from Dr. Kaminski
The sun has finally decided to join us in Fishers! Please take the time to get outside and enjoy some downtime with your children this weekend!
I am so happy to announce that we have officially completed our ISTEP testing for 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. Make up testing for absent students will take place next week. This is the LAST year for the ISTEP test as we welcome a new model in 2018-2019. As a principal of the NCLB era, I am simply thrilled to see this event depart. Although we will start a new assessment, the regulations and function will be greatly improved for our students. Much to share early next year!
The past few weeks we have seen a rise in dangerous drop off behavior in the morning. Parents are dropping kids in the mid-drive by the flagpole, over by the YMCA and some by the preschool. All drops are dangerous if they are not in the car rider line. We can't keep students safe from danger who travel freely in our parking lot. Please don't put your child into such a dangerous situation. It is not fair to me or my staff to have such potential for tragedy. Please remember that our school opens at 8:45 AM. There is no need to send your child any sooner as they do not have any supervision. Thanks for keeping our BSE Bears safe the remaining 20 days of school.
I am excited to share that BSE was one of three schools selected for the HSE initial equity training in which ALL HSE staff will eventually participate. BSE will spend May 1st and 2nd with Dr. Erica Buchanan-Rivera, HSE Chief Equity Officer, on Tier 1 Equity Training. We are proud to be selected first to work through this amazing equity training opportunity!
Again, enjoy the sun and cool weather with your family and friends!

SafeVisitor Badges
EVERYONE who wants to volunteer at any of the HSE schools much have a background check on file. Three is a fee associated with this process. Once approved, the background check is good for all HSE schools and lasts three years. Click here to start the process.
Also, per HSE Policy, visitors must have their SafeVisitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (iPhone/Android) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names occasionally leads to signing in the wrong guest.
Upon leaving the school, please turn your printed badge in to the office staff for quick check-out.
