MPES Connection

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent - Teacher conferences are coming up on Tuesday, November 6th from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Conferences are a wonderful opportunity for parents to learn about their child’s progress in school. It is a time for parents to ask questions about their child's academic and behavioral performance, learn more about what students are studying and to find out if their child is having difficulty with anything in particular. A sign up form is coming home with your child. If you did not already sign up for a conference time at our Back to School Night, please complete the form and return to school as soon as possible.
Picture Day is Monday!
Character Counts Week
The week of October 22 - 26 was Character Counts Week at MPES! Character Counts is a program that we use to guide our topics for classroom guidance lessons and teach our students about character traits that will encourage them to:
-Reach their academic potential and have the ability to succeed in school
-Live happy, worthy and fulfilling personal lives
-Become engaged, responsible and productive citizens
The Character Pillars are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Students and teachers participated in activities throughout the week to celebrate good character. I encourage you to ask your child to share with you what each of the character pillars means!

4th Grade Field Trip
Fourth grade had a great time at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on Tuesday! Christylez Bacon and Wytold had us singing along and dancing in our seats. Christylez Bacon showcased his amazing skills while teaching the audience how to beatbox. Wytold’s beautiful electric cello had everyone mesmerized. Together, the pair blended the worlds of classical and hip-hop music in the most amazing way. The artists delivered a strong message of perusing your passions and never giving up on your dreams. It was truly a field trip to remember!
Cougar Spirit!
MPES and CES students had fun cheering on the MPHS football team before the homecoming game!
Operation Turkey
MPES is giving back this Thanksgiving by participating in “Operation Turkey.” From now until November 15th, we will be collecting various food items that will be donated to local food pantries. The food we collect will help provide Thanksgiving baskets to individuals and families in our area. All food donations can be sent into school and dropped off in our cafeteria. Please see the flier that is coming home with students for more details. Thank you for your support!
