Klem North Chronicles
January 2020 - Happy New Year
Happy New Year!
As we welcome 2020 we would also like to welcome Mrs. Annette McCabe, our new KN interim assistant principal who plans to stay with us until we hire a permanent replacement. Annette is excited to join our KN Family and comes to us with an abundance of experiences. If you are in the building, take a moment to say hello! She looks forward to getting to know our school community.
Best wishes for a healthy and joyful new year,
Laura Ballou

Morning Drop Off for K-5 Students
- Drop off is between 7:40 and 7:45 AM. (Any student who enters after our 7:50 AM bell is considered tardy and must be escorted into the main office by an adult who can sign that student in.)
- Enter from the Klem South Drive & make a loop around our front parking lot.
- Drop students off at the base of the building at the crosswalk (Red X on map).
- Exit out of Klem South Drive.
- See map above.
After School Pickups
Our after school programs at Klem North have increased this year. Many of our children are attending WonderCare, fourth and fifth graders are participating in Activity Period, and soon our PTSA and other outside organizations plan on having clubs back up and running.
As a result, we want to streamline our pick up procedures. All families who are picking up their child(ren) from any of these after school programs listed above should report to Door #17 (when looking at the building, this door is to the right of the main entrance). For the safety and security of our students, a staff member will be at this door ready to greet you until 6:00 PM.
Just to clarify, our main office foyer will also still be the pick up location at our normal dismissal time (2:00 PM) and on all half days due to parent teacher conferences (10:00 AM).
Thank you,
Laura
Notes from Mrs. Pieters
These are our district’s exclusion guidelines during this cold and flu season.
If your child has a fever, they can’t return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without assistance from fever-reducing medication like Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Advil/Motrin (ibuprofen).
If diagnosed with strep throat they can’t return to school until they have been on the antibiotic for 24 hours.
If your child is diagnosed with a communicable disease (strep throat, the flu, Pink eye, chicken pox, hand-foot-mouth) please include this information when you call the attendance line (585) 217-4108.
For more information, please refer to the District’s Exclusion Guidelines located on http://www.websterschools.org/ under the department of District Health Office.
A second reminder will be sent home for delinquent physicals of students in grade K,1,3 and 5. If a physical is not submitted to the health office, the student will be examined by our District Physician in March. Please submit ASAP.

WCSD Seeks 2020-2021 Budget Advisory Committee Members
Happy New Year! If you have always wanted to learn more about the district budgeting process, please plan on volunteering as a member of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. This important advisory committee assists the district by providing the unique perspective of parents, business owners, and community members on our budget communication and process. There will be four meeting times between January and April 2020 and each meeting will be one hour long.
Meetings are scheduled for: Thursday, January 23, Thursday, February 27, Thursday, March 19, and Thursday, April 16. Light snacks will be provided from 5:00-5:15 p.m. with all meetings starting promptly at 5:15 p.m. and ending at 6:15 p.m. Meetings will be held in the Webster Schroeder High School library conference room. Interested residents should contact Lisa Borrino at Lisa_Borrino@webstercsd.org or 216-0017. Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate.
Important Information for Potential Weather-Related Closings/Cancellations
‘Tis the season when snow and cold can sometimes result in school closings! It’s important that all families are fully prepared in the event that Webster CSD needs to close school for the day or send students home early. Please make a plan and discuss it with your child. Should the weather necessitate school closings and cancellations, Webster CSD families will be notified via the district’s automated calling system, Infinite Campus’ Student and Parent Portal. Parents can modify how they get this information (text, phone call, email) through the Contact Preference tab on the portal.
An even faster way to get this news is to follow district social media: Facebook.com/WebsterCentralSchools, Twitter @wcsdproud, and superintendent’s Twitter @superwebstercsd, and the district website websterschools.org. Local TV and radio stations will also be informed.
Please note that when the schools are closed due to weather, all aquatics and community education classes are also cancelled along with all programs and events taking place in Webster CSD buildings. WonderCare may be the exception; please consult their website, websterschools.org/wondercare, and social media Facebook.com/WonderCare and Twitter @wondercarewcsd.
