After 17 fun years in the library, Ms. Hacker is retiring! She plans to keep on reading and doing other fun things, too!

School Lunch...
..is provided to all children free of charge. The program is open to all neighborhood children age 18 and younger. Airport Heights Elementary: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 10-20 and July 15-August 1. Begich Middle School: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 10-27 and July 8-25.
K Wollrich
We wrote in our journals every day. We liked doing addition problems and doing activities like coloring, going to the zoo, and working in our learning centers. We like our 5th grade reading buddies.
K Zerda
We learned about different kinds of rocks. We learned all the letters of the alphabet and their sounds and we learned about being kind to friends and sharing!
1 Stewart
We learned to add and subtract number as well as count money, coins and dollars. We practiced reading hard words like "precipitation" and "evaporation" when studying water. We wrote about all our science topics like insects and polar bears.
1 Teekell-O
We dissected squid in science and wrote our names in squid ink! We learned two-digit addition, we can edit our writing and we can read books like Frog and Toad!
2 Conti
We wrote in our journals to Ms. Conti and she wrote back! We liked the reading stations and read A to Z mysteries. Now we can add 3-digit numbers!
2 Hodson
We learned about the history of Anchorage and each of us made a book as well as a class mural! Our writing skills include developing a paragraph and writing friendly letters in our home-school journals. We did some fractions and measuring to the inch in math.
3 Haskell
We learned multiplication and division in math. We learned to write in cursive and learned about Alaska Native cultures. We learned about the life cycle of plants and trees, then drew pictures of each stage of growth.
3 Hunt
We all completed research projects on topics we chose ourselves like big cats, whales and salmon. We shared information about our cultures and families. We started learning multiplication, division and fractions, too!
4 Lesko
We learned about the Mayan culture and studied all the continents and oceans of the world. We reviewed division and decimals. We are reading folktales like "pourquoi" tales and writing haiku!
4 Welch
We loved reading Stargirl, are super multiplication stars and liked doing research projects on geyers, grasslands and owls!
5 Baldwin
We love reading My Side of the Mountain and Snow Treasure. We liked reseaching and writing our state report and exploring variables by floating paper cups with pennies as passengers!
5 Toso
We learned about alternative energy and explored these areas at Campbell Creek science center and loved reading Shiloh and Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher.
6 Chaitoff
We built bi-planes when studying WWI and made projects out of recycled materials when studying the science of trash. We loved reading Hatchet!
6 Teekell
We are yogis! We can even do advanced poses. We learned about how effort and persistence creates new habits. We learned big words like lugubrious and enigmatic.
Math Derby
Samantha, Kristine, Nathaniel, Jessica, Enzo, Bishop, David and Dharen went to Scenic Park to compete in a math competition call Math Derby.
