Park Family,
It is critical to remind ourselves that we were given a great gift when we decided to become educators. We get the chance to have a positive impact on lives of 3,004 students and 350 staff members. We get to work hard at work worth doing!
Thank you for answering the call to serve and lead at Cypress Park High School!
Chris

Why Community Time is Important to Me
At my old school, there was no such thing as Community Time. There were occasional community meetings in the commons, but no actual lessons to be learned or talking with others and learning about them. There was no high fiving someone across the room or simon says, there wasn’t even any division between grades. At this school though, there is a specific time set for those things I didn’t have. Thanks to community time, I got to know fellow juniors and some underclassmen who I did not think I would ever talk to. I learned lessons on how to be a leader and how to respect people. I learned from Cy-Park live about other communities in the school and you know what, that video guy was a huge help as well. Community Time is important for me because it gives me a sense of belonging and peace that I never felt I had before. I never feel closer to my classmates than during community time. It is important to me and I will miss this lovely group of people and teacher who forced us to do community time when we did not want to do it. So thank you, community time.
Varsity:
The 2023-204 Varsity came to an end with discipline, teamwork, and fundamentals at the forefront. The boys set the standard for behavior and excellence, placing 1st in the 2nd 9 weeks for passing rate percentage across district 16-6A. This young basketball team exemplified grit throughout the season. They answered back to challenges that were placed in front of them. Toughness does not lie in what happens to you, it lies in the way that you respond, and this team responded finishing the season and winning 2 of the last 3 games guiding us into a successful off-season. They embraced being part of something bigger than themselves with everything they did while having the greater good of the group in mind. They approached each day with enthusiasm, realizing that the opportunity to play basketball and be a part of this group wouldn’t last forever. They enjoyed the journey and with the experience this team gained, they can't wait to represent Cy Park High School next year.
JV:
The 2023-24 Junior Varsity team ended the season 2nd in the district with a 9-5 district record while finishing overall with a record of 20-8 on the season including a 5th place finish in the CFISD JV Tournament and a 2-1 finish in the Strake Jesuit Showcase. The team rose through several injuries at different times throughout the season and came out near the district's top with respect earned from every other District School's JV coach and team.
Sophomore:
District Champions with a 13-1 District Record and 20-4 overall! The relationship that this team formed made this Championship season . Like every relationship, it came with ups and downs, but we went through it together. They formed and bond on the court. They found their chemistry and took off! We had games where they were unstoppable, games that pushed them, and games where they had to dig down deep. They faced all these games and challenges as a team! Cheered each other on and had fun doing it! Yes, there were downs as well, dealing with the fact not all of the kids grow at the same rate, and there were downs off the court that we had to deal with. The best part about that was they accepted their faults and faced them as little young men should. They found and took this as a form of growth, they learned to look in the mirror. The parents were very involved and very helpful the entire season! Showing up at every game, celebrating their young men.
Fr A:
Cy Park 9A Basketball Team grew in areas of academics, emotions, discipline, commitment and basketball skills through a season filled with development. The team developed through the mantra “Winning Mentality” (I can, I will, I am). This led to highlight of the season, beating Cy Falls (2nd place team) at home by seven points (holding the Eagles to 3 points in the 4th quarter).
Overall, the 9A T.I.G.E.R.S grew up on and off the court and showed Trust, Integrity, Grit, Excel, Respect & Service throughout the season. RISE UP!
Fr B:
First, I would like to thank the parents for entrusting their young men to me this year. These young men exhibit trust and integrity. Beyond the wins and losses. These young men showed a lot of growth on and off the court. They are great teammates and eager to learn.
Congratulations Coach Denson, Coach Mace, Coach Freeman, Coach Feathers and Coach Garcia!
CPHS debate and UIL academics showed Tiger Pride this past weekend at the practice meet at A&M consolidated HS!! The highlights of the weekend were 3 Lincoln Douglas Debate quarter finalists, over 10 semi-finalist, 4 speech event finalists, 2nd place accounting, 4th place spelling team, and 2nd place in speech sweepstakes overall!! Thank you to all the UIL sponsors who support our Tigers!
Mrs. Suarez and Ms. Baron kicked off 2024-2025 Dual Credit Registration with 2 parent meetings on Wednesday evening. At 6 PM, they met with 10th and 11th grade College Academy families to discuss not only dual credit classes, but also Associate degree plan information and updates. At 7 PM, they met with interested dual credit students and parents about the benefits, courses offered, requirements and registration process for dual credit. There was a great turnout, and they look forward to continuing to grow Cypress Park’s Dual Credit program!

I love this quote! I would also add that excellence is not exclusive. We all have the potential to be excellent. We can be an excellent teammate. We can put forth a level of excellence with our attitude, effort, and commitment. As we approach the last week before Spring Break, I challenge us all, myself included, to strive for excellence in one area. Imagine how powerful it would be for our commUnity if all 302 of us Park Family members would make that one area our goal for excellence....Wow!
Have a great weekend!
