MARCH IS MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS AND YOUTH ART MONTH
What better way to kick off the nationwide Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) and Youth Art Month than with more outstanding WCSD musicals and student artist accolades. If you were fortunate enough to see Webster Schroeder’s epic production of Les Misérables last month or Willink Middle School’s entertaining Legally Blonde, Jr. then you know just how talented our students are!
First, be sure to enjoy Spry Middle School’s production of Bye Bye Birdie Jr. at the Spry Middle School auditorium on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 with performances at 7:30 nightly plus a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, March 10. Bye Bye Birdie Jr. is great entertainment for the entire family! Shows are anticipated to sell out so get your tickets in advance for $7 each at https://sites.google.com/webstercsd.org/sch-william-ambler/home beginning February 26. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door.
MIOSM month will wrap up with the Webster Thomas Players’ production of Pippin on March 22-24 at 7:30 nightly plus a 2:00 p.m. matinee on March 24, at Webster Thomas High School. Tickets are $12.00 at the door and available online now at websterthomasplayers.com/tickets. For group discounts, contact Jenn Altobelli at Jennaltobelli@gmail.com.
Your board also wants to congratulate 66 WCSD high school students from Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas high schools, recently winning regional awards as part of the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Student artists who received Gold Key awards for their artwork will go on to be adjudicated at the national level.
We continue to be proud of the musicianship and artistry of Webster’s students that can be seen all year long on the stage and in the classrooms of our dedicated music and fine arts faculty.
Be sure to visit the district’s newly designed website, websterschools.org, to check out upcoming events on the main page calendar regarding details on upcoming MISOM concerts, musicals, and fine arts events.
