Mr. Goetz's Corner
Dear Families of Deerfield,
March has been a fun month at Deerfield! It has been exciting to see all our friends dress up for all of our spirit days. Hopefully our students had as much fun participating as our faculty and staff did!
We are so proud of all of our Deerfield friends and their reading this month! We appreciate all of Mrs. Swartz hard work to fill up our board with more and more dragons. Don't forget to keep reading over Spring Break because our Read-A-Thon is happening!
The Egg Surprise fundraiser was a success this week. Thank you to the volunteers that came to help. We could not have made it a success without your help. We are sorry for the confusion over the Zap Zone gift cards but hopefully our wonderful PTO can get it all taken care of for us during Spring Break so that they are ready when the students return.
As we return from Spring Break, we will be looking forward and starting to make preparations for next year. If you have a request for your student's class placement next year please send a email to me directly. Please remember these are requests and will be considered but no guarantees can be made.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Goetz

Deerfield Read-a-thon
Our Read-a-thon fundraiser is off to an amazing start! Please share your student's individual link with friends and family to donate, and encourage your student to read and enter their minutes online. At the conclusion of the fundraiser, Deerfield will receive 75% of the funds raised to help pay for our remaining assemblies this school year. Your student will also receive 15% of their individual raised donations to shop in the Read-a-thon store for prizes!
We would love to have all students participate. Please register your student online by visiting the following website: https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/VVTqxc/1.
Thank you in advance for your help with raising funds for our school to bring in such educational and fun presentations! Happy Reading!

Goodbye Mrs. Mulka
Deerfield has been lucky to have Mrs. Mulka for so many years. We wish her a big congratulations and the best of luck as she begins her new role in our district! Deerfield will miss "Math with Ms Mulka". We hope to see you often at Deerfield Mrs. Mulka!
Congratulations Gavin Davis!
Each year the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce awards 5th graders with the Excellence in Education award. This year it was awarded to our Deerfield friend, Gavin Davis! The program recognizes these students for demonstrating excellence in their lives and also recognizes the teachers who have had the greatest influence on them. Gavin chose Mr. Anderson as his most influential teacher. Congratulations Gavin!

Egg Surprise Success & Empty Egg Return
Thank you to everyone who participated in our egg surprise fundraiser! It was a huge hit! The students enjoyed selecting their eggs, and we heard about lots of excitement they had when opening them at home. If you do not wish to keep the eggs that the surprises came in, we are accepting returns to use for next year. If possible, please connect the two pieces of the egg together. You can send the empty eggs back to school with your student. Thank you!
Downtown Auburn Hills Bunny Bash
Downtown Auburn Hills will host an opportunity for children to meet the Easter Bunny and some more furry friends. Get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny, and bring home a gift of prize-filled eggs and a take-home craft. This is a free event for children 12 and under and their families.
One School, One Book
Our book pick for March is Reading Month 2024 is "Dragons in a Bag." Each Deerfield student received a copy of the book to read at home. This is a chapter book, so some readers may need to be read to while other readers may read on their own. Our goal is for this to be a family experience and you will read & discuss together. Resources that go along with the story are available on this site. Use the "Calendar," "Family Engagement," and "Resources" tabs at the top right of this homepage to navigate. If you click on the "Family Engagement" tab, you will find discussion questions for each chapter for your family to talk about at home. Students will follow the activity calendar for the month of March and enjoy the book at home. There are short Google Form responses for students to complete at the end of each week. :)
