Bulldog Newsletter
February 5th, 2021
Dear Bulldog Families,
In this newsletter, Dr. Campbell explains that "We’re continuing our current plan to safely reopen starting with our earliest learners for parents who’ve chosen the hybrid model for their child."
Committees are working to collect input on safety protocols, like daily health screenings. I want to thank you for completing our survey and letting us know what mode of instruction is right for your family. Whether you have chosen Hybrid or Remote, please know that we are committed to your child's continued academic and social growth at Silver Lake.
I also want to thank the parents that attended Principal Advisory this week and voiced their thinking around Hybrid wonderings. There will be a hybrid/remote informational parent meeting on February 18th at 6:15. I encourage parents to attend via Zoom. Zoom link will be sent out via email.
Sincerely,
Angie Ellenbecker

Change in Immunization Law
Due to this change, in order for scholars to return to in-person instruction, they must provide documentation of proof of immunizations.
Our school nurse has been working hard to reach out to families of scholars who are currently non-compliant. Reminder letters have been sent out and calls are being made.
The school office has a list of scholars who are currently non-compliant, if you have a question regarding your child's immunizations we can help you with the information you gave us upon registration.

All Choice Enrollment applications are due by 4:30 p.m., Feb. 12, 2021. The Choice Lottery will take place March 17, 2021 at 5:30 p. m.
Existing Choice families: You are not required to reapply except for non-residents students who are transitioning between grade spans such as elementary to middle to high school.
Middle School Choice Options
Do you have questions about what options you have next year for your 5th grader? Here is some general information that we hope will help:
- Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) scholars are assigned to a designated school based on their home address.
- Scholars are guaranteed placement (or a spot) to their neighborhood school.
· Families also have the option to apply for placement to a different school through a program called “Choice Enrollment”.
· Assignment to a choice school is not guaranteed and is based on space availability. It is also important to note that resident scholars (those living within our district boundaries, and permanent district employees) have priority over non-resident scholars, or those living outside of district boundaries.
· You can add your address to this map to see which school boundary you reside in: http://www5.kingcounty.gov/FWSD/schoollookup.htm.
· Choice enrollment is now open! If you want your scholar to attend a specific middle school, make your decisions and complete the “Choice Enrollment” application online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfUupt00FAhvI1bvHo54-XIbMy08ajPWHNaU4R8CERiSDehEQ/viewform.
· Each school has a website at fwps.org/domain/800 to help in your decision making
