Please join us in celebrating F.AVE's honoree's at the annual MLK/CSK award ceremony. This year's honoree's are:
The F.AVE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee Invites You to Dinner!
The FAVE Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) committee, along with Principal Newton and others, are hosting a RACE & EQUITY DINNER, March 29, 2019. We welcome the FAVE community to join us, but seating is limited so RSVP quickly! This potluck dinner is an opportunity to sit at the table together with people you may never have met, or had a reason to interact with and engage in a facilitated conversation on the evening's topic. The dinner is modeled after the Decatur Dinners. If your spot is confirmed, you will receive information on what to bring to the potluck. The Brick Store Pub and Let's Eat are kindly providing the family-style main courses for the dinner. RSVP link: https://tinyurl.com/RaceEquityDinnerRSVP
The FAVE Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) committee of the PTO, a small and dedicated group of FAVE parents, began this school year intending to examine disproportionality and the ways it impacts students, teachers, and families. We aim to find ways to encourage dialogue, challenge systems, and affect change within our school and the greater Decatur community.
Student Health Update:
The safety of our students and school community is a priority. We continue to monitor the current evolving health situations and are following the guidance of the DeKalb Board of Health, Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Department of Public Health and the DeKalb Emergency Management Plan (follow this link for more information). We kindly ask parents and/or guardians to make sure your contact information, including emergency contact information, is up to date. If your cell phone or work numbers have changed, please update your information in the parent portal or contact your school’s office. In the event that your child becomes ill at school and needs to be picked up, it is imperative that we are able to reach you immediately. We also request that students be picked up within 1 hour of notification.
The Georgia Department of Public Health recommends the following to prevent the spread of any respiratory virus:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick. Fever >100.0
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. (door handles, laptops, phones, light switches)
Every day F.AVE Falcons Rise UP to be:
Risk Takers who
Inquire about global issues.
Striving to be open minded.
Excellent and
Unique in every way. F.AVE students are
Powerful young minds who lead the way!
Have a fantastic week!

FAVE RAVE! April 18th, 7pm @ Color Wheel Studio
No Auction. No Added Pressure. Just a straight up 90’s Dance Party to celebrate and support our School!
We’re way too cool for all that other stuff.
Walk & Roll – Tuesday March 10th - TOMORROW!
Fingers crossed – no rain tomorrow morning! In celebration of GA Walk & Roll to School Day, we’ll be handing out extra incentives to all Walkers & Rollers in addition to the numbered certificates as part of our monthly Walk & Roll book drawing. If you cannot walk all the way, consider driving to Harmony Park (corner of Mead, Oakview, and Eastlake) and walk the final 0.4 miles. There are plenty of parking spots around that area, and you’ll be sure to meet many other families doing the same. Additional 'Stop, Drop, and Walk' routes to F.Ave are found here (https://www.csdecatur.net/Page/1647).If you must drive, please be extra cautious that morning, as there will be lots of extra children walking or riding their bikes. Give them extra room (remember, a 3 foot distance is the law, but more is always better!), as they might not be as sturdy or mindful on their bikes as adults.
If you have any questions, please contact: kendallhamilton@bellsouth.net

Bike Month Poster Contest
May is National Bike Month and the Decatur Safe Routes to School program invites children in grades K-8 to participate in the 5th annual Bike to School Month poster contest. This year's theme is "Why I Ride." Poster artwork is due to the child's school no later than 8 a.m. on March 10, 2020 (Though the entry form indicates the due date is March 6, F.Ave Bike Dudes will collect all the entries immediately following the GA Walk and Roll to School Day event on March 10). Each school will select their top three posters and a panel of judges will select the system-wide winners and announce in early April. Judging will be based on creativity, inclusion of theme, and originality. For more information and the entry form, click here. The winners will receive gift certificates from Little Shop of Stories, artwork will be made into posters to be displayed in May, and winners will be recognized at a City Commission Meeting in May and in the Decatur FOCUS Magazine.
