DMS Panther Press
November 2019
Principal's Corner
Panther Families,
There are so many great things happening at DMS! We are so proud of our students and faculty and the wonderful accomplishments that are achieved daily.
The DMS Lady Panthers Volleyball 8th grade team won the County Championship. Our DMS Concert Band wowed us with a fantastic performance at the Cobwebs and Cocoa Concert! It was a great time of festive music and snacks for all in attendance. The DMS Lady Panthers Basketball teams competed in the Guntersville Tip-Off Tournament October 24-26 and the DMS Boys Basketball teams competed at the Scottsboro Tip-Off Tournament. All teams did a wonderful job representing our school!
We will honor veterans and military personnel at our Veteran's Day program on November 8th for their service to our country. Many of our students will demonstrate their gratitude through music, song and leadership. Please remember that November 8th is a half day of school with dismissal at 11:45 a.m.
Safety is our number one concern. With that in mind, I wanted to remind you of our carline procedures so that we can continue to keep our campus safe for students, faculty and parents.
Student drop off begins at 7:30a.m. Students will not be allowed in the building before that time.
The carline entrance on the north side of the parking lot should be used to drop students off in the mornings and to pick them up in the afternoon.
Prior to 7:30 drop-off, the carline exit is a two-way entry and exit. As the sign notes, it is exit only from 7:30-8:15. Be mindful of the traffic flow during these times.
Our loop is the drop off point for our ELC students. Please do not park in the loop in the morning or afternoons.
Please use the carline to pick your students up in the afternoon. It is not safe for students to be picked up in our parking lot, the senior center parking lot, or surrounding neighborhoods. It is difficult to maintain the safety of all students when they are not adhering to the established procedures.
Thanks for your continued support of the students, faculty and staff of Discovery!
With Panther Pride,
Kim Stewart
