Founded in 1977 by Jerry and Mark Silverman. The brand targets 15-25 year olds. Started off focusing primarily on casual sportswear that would be worn during leisure wear, sporting activities and hiking. They started to lose there money, Jay L. Schottenstein changed the clothing to niche clothing and accessories, raising sales once again. There are 929 AE stores.
