From Mrs. Adams, Positive Behavior Coach
Hello, Winfield families!
In honor of National School Counseling Week, I want to take the opportunity to give a big shout out to our school counselor, Mrs. Jamie Williams. Now, I know she doesn't need an introduction, and I don't need to outline the many responsibilities she has at Winfield Elementary or the various ways she supports our students and staff (you all are already aware!). Instead, I would like to share why I admire her, and also, why I am so grateful for her.
Mrs. Williams exudes grit. Her passion for her role at Winfield Elementary is commendable. I have watched her, time and time again, unpack an issue and get at the root of the problem. She does this effortlessly. She does it with care and compassion. As a result, our students' eyes light up when they see her because of the comfort they feel in her presence. Also, our staff benefits because we are supported by someone who understands the value in working together and communicating effectively. She is fair and honest. She is reliable and dedicated. She perseveres when consistent issues arise, and witnessing her ability to maintain a sense of calm in those instances is something that our school thrives on.
As many of you know, Mrs. Williams and I both started at Winfield this last fall, and her knowledge, wisdom, and guidance are all things that I learn from (daily). It is wonderful to work alongside someone who not only has the knowledge to compassionately help children, but also, to help staff members navigate situations. She has offered advice to me countless times, thus allowing me to grow in my role. For this and so much more, I am especially grateful. She is a dedicated colleague and a loyal friend...someone who we can count on every day for emotional support, academic growth, and personal resiliency. So, Mrs. Williams, this one is for you: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

As a school we believe it is important to recognize students on their birthdays. To protect instructional time in the classroom and manage student health needs, we do not allow edible birthday treats in the classroom (this includes CANDY in treat bags). Your child's birthday will be announced on the morning announcements and he/she is invited to the office for a small birthday treat.
If you choose, non-food items may be substituted your child may commemorate their special day by bringing a small treat for their classmates (pencil, bookmark, sticker, etc.) or dedicating a book to the classroom (and placing a special birthday bookplate inside).
OPTIONAL: Families wishing to celebrate their child's birthdays at lunch may purchase Ice Cream Tickets for each child in the class. Tickets are $0.75 each. Please complete an order form in the office 1 week prior to birthday.
