Endocarditis = the worst stage of staph
Definition = Infection that spreads through your body, is very contagious and can cause death.
Skin Infections:
Boils- the most common effect of staph is boils, where a pocket of pus develops on a hair follicle or oil gland.
Impetigo- one effect of staph is impetigo witch is very contagious and usually consists of rashes, and sometimes blisters that ooze liquid and develops a honey colored crust.
Cellutitis- an infection of the deeper layers of skin that mostly occurs on legs and feet. cause the skin to swell and become red.
Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome- this effects mostly newborns and children. the effects of this are fevers, rashes, blisters, and sometimes skin comes off.
Food poisoning- this occurs when you eat food that has staph in it.
Bacteremia- also know as blood poisioning. When staph enters the bloodstream. Effects internal organs, bones, and muscles.
Toxic Shock Syndrome- results of toxin from a product that contains staph bacteria. Toxin= some strains of staph bacteria
