Back to School Nights & Title Programs: What to Expect
Back-to-School events are brilliant opportunities to get to know your child’s school community and staff! During these events, NASD schools review and conduct revisions to (2) planning documents that are required for every Title I school. They include each school community’s:
School-Parent Compact
School Parent Engagement Policy
Parents are invited and encouraged to assist in this process when they attend. Additionally, after being reviewed and revised, these planning documents will be made available electronically here and on both the Federal Programs Pages for the district and each school respectively.
Parents that are unable to attend their student’s back-to-school events will be able to view and provide stakeholder feedback on them at that time.
To Review at Your Convenience
NASD parents are also invited to review the following materials at your convenience:
Parents’ Right to Know Letter
NASD District-Level Parent & Family Engagement Policy
Parent Right to Know letters inform parents of their right to information pertaining to their child’s education. They will be sent out by your school’s building principal, however, they will also be available here.
NASD’s district-level Parent & Family Engagement Policy is similar to your child’s school parent & family engagement policy but is applicable to the entire school district. This document is available here.
Is there anything else I need to know?
NASD parents are required by federal law to be notified by their child’s school if an educator, who is not appropriately state certified, has been teaching your child for (4) consecutive weeks or more.
If this occurs, building principals from your child’s school will be sure to send a communication out in a timely manner. A template of that document is available here.
Federal Programs Stakeholder Survey
The Norristown Area School District solicits input from the parents, guardians, and caregivers of our students.
You are cordially invited to submit information requests and provide constructive feedback on how NASD communicates with its families, implements federal programming, and considers new programs or initiatives aimed at addressing the needs of our students, families, and community!

Call to Action: Opportunities for Parent Volunteers and Visitors!
This school year, the Norristown Area School District has permitted school buildings to allow the return of parent volunteers to assist in various activities throughout the day!
Building principals will determine the specific ways they will welcome parent volunteers within their schools to assist with activities.
Volunteers play an important and valuable role in helping the district reach its goal of increased academic achievement for each and every one of our students. We are truly appreciative of the commitment and dedication of parents and community members who freely share their talents and resources.
For those interested in volunteering or requesting more information about the requirements, click here!
Additionally, in recognition that not every parent has the ability to volunteer their time regularly in school buildings, NASD is putting together a list of standardized opportunities for visitors who want to help out in their child’s school or at district events. More information on this is forthcoming. Be on the lookout for a calendar of events and opportunities for parents and caregivers!
