The Manning Weekly Newsletter
April 23, 2021
Manning Community,
This week has been a roller coaster as the COVID cases rise slightly. We have had our fair share of positive cases that has impacted several students with quarantine procedures. Most of our cases were not linked to Manning, but to outside activities such as sports and other activities. However, the district took our small surge seriously and scheduled a deep clean of some of the hotspot areas in our school today. So, please rest assured we are doing everything we can to keep our doors open and students learning in-person as long as we can.
We are round the corner to the final lap of the 2020-2021 school year and I could not be more excited to see the kids finish strong. We are busy in the coming weeks. MAPS testing, getting Outdoor Lab moving for the 6th graders, building the 2021-2022 schedules, and of course working on those special 8th grade celebrations you are all wondering about.
We have been given the directive to operate under the "yellow" guidelines for continuation ceremonies, giving us only 175 people for the gathering. Our 8th grade class is larger than that! Armed with that information, we have made the decision to move continuation to a virtual ceremony, hosted on YouTube. It will premier at 6pm on May 27, 2021. We know this is a disappointment for you, as much as it is for us. We are looking to have the 8th grade picnic in the morning on the 27th, barring we aren't handed any further restrictions. Dont' hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns about this.
I am traveling this weeked for some much needed R&R and I challenge each of you to find some rest and relaxation of your own this weekend. Balance is the key to keeping yourself focused and happy. We have only 6 short weeks left together and I want us all to make the most of them!
Stronger Together,
Christian Ramaker

NJHS
The Manning chapter of the National Junior honor Society (NJHS) is holding a homeless shelter drive for this upcoming week. We are collecting items to be donated to a homeless shelter. In particular, NJHS is asking for hygiene items, clothing, blankets, food, children’s toys and books, and other essentials that can be utilized at the shelter. There are boxes by the front door to donate the items during school hours. For our remote families, feel free to stop by the school and ring the doorbell to leave your donations outside.
Thank you in advance!

8TH GRADE CONTINUATION UPDATE
Continuation will begin with an 8th Grade Slideshow. We would love a picture or two of your 8th graders as babies and toddlers, as middle schoolers, hanging with their friends, playing sports, singing in choir, etc. If you're willing to share them, please put them in THE DROPBOX BELOW
Deadline for submission is Friday, May 7.
On Thursday, May 27 at 6:00pm, our formal continuation ceremony will take place virtually; we hope you will log on and celebrate your 8th graders with your families and with our Manning community. How to access the Continuation Ceremony will come soon, it will be a YouTube Premier.
Also, as we know how important it is to give our incredible 8th graders the chance to say goodbye to one another before they head to high school, we have scheduled the 8th Grade Picnic at Maple Grove Park for Thursday, May 27 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Parents who have opted out of including your student in publications, please fill out the form below to opt in so we can use your student's photo in this ceremony video only. Thanks
Students will have an opportunity to submit a quote for their slide in the program during their ELA class.
A Message from the PTA...
We are fundraising for Teacher Appreciation week. Please sign up so we can show them the love they deserve, and a huge thank you to all of you who have donated already!

We are still on the hunt for parents to serve on the board next year. Next year's board will decide when to hold their meetings, so work schedules can be taken into consideration. Talk with a friend and see if you can serve together (or send us their names- we won't tell!) Half of our current board and many of our Committee chair people are 'graduating' from Manning, so we would love some new faces!
Thank you for your presentation Kari. We enjoyed it and learned a lot too!
