Summary of the Road to Revoultion
First came the Proclamation of 1763 which forbid colonists to move west of the Appalachian Mountains, which has natives and the French.Next came the sugar Act,which was a tax on sugar-related imports from outer countries. This led a man named Samuel Adams to protest against the act.Just after that happen came the Quartering Act, a law where colonists had to pay money, house and build buildings, and give food to any British solider/Redcoat.The colonists got more anger and more protested against the taxes. Then Parliament decided to create the Stamp Act, where people had to be taxed whenever they are buying paper-related goods. Colonists in return burned the stamps in protest. Then Parliament pulled the a lot of straws as they introduced the Townshend Acts. Basically, these acts are taxes on glass, paper, paint, lead, and tea. This led to an event called the Boston Massacre, an time period of soldiers killing and slaughtering many colonists who threw rocks at them. Just after that happen, with courts and stuff with the soldiers, King George lll produced the Tea Act, which allowed only the British East India Tea Company sell tea to the colonies only, putting other tea businesses out of business. This led to the event called the Boston Tea Party. The Sons of Liberty, dressed as Indians, boarded 3 ships and dumped over 340 chests of tea which costed over a million dollars. In order to punish the Boston colonists, King George lll closed down boston Harbor and cutted off all supply routes leading to the Boston city, which is called the Coercive Acts(Intolerable Acts as colonists called it)This act was hoped by the British to bring order to the colonies.Instead, it brought a whole lot of something more, a word. Revolution.
