Message from Administration
We are so excited to be back in school. It has been wonderful to see all of our students and staff back in the building. As always, we are off and running. Students and teachers are working hard in classrooms and settling nicely into their routines. IReady testing has begun and the students are doing a wonderful job. We honored our first group of Student of the Month recipients on August 27th.
There are many activities for the month of September. Monday, September 6th is Labor Day; there is no school on this day. In addition, we have no school on September 16th in honor of Yom Kippur. Please mark these important dates on your calendar.
We will be having our first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting on Thursday, September 2nd @ 5:30 via Zoom. See below for information on how to register if you would like to join us for the meeting.
We are looking forward to an amazing school year. Thank you, as always, for your support of Caloosa Elementary. We couldn't do any of this without our families.
With much appreciation,
Mr. La Mar and Mrs. Metzger

We are welcoming back students to the library this year! They are checking out books and bringing them home to read. Ask your child about their library books and share time together enjoying them!
And don’t forget...
Overdrive is a virtual library for students. Students may access Overdrive through Launchpad. Go to Instructional Apps and choose Overdrive (the big O). Students may search for books and read the books.
To use Overdrive for tablets or cell phones, go to the Google Play Store and download the Sora app. This will also allow students to read books from their devices.
Make this a special time and read together!

Aloha Art
Hello, Caloosa Families! We’ve started the year in a productive way in the Aloha Art Room! Ask your artist what “ALOHA” means and how to show it! We celebrated our underwater theme this year by first creating tropical fish for each class to use in a display. Each student chose their own line design and shape, colors, and did a beautiful job. Classrooms are hanging these with Caloosa pride!
We will be working on a special project during the month of September called, “Art to Remember.” Your child will create an original piece of art and I will be sending it into a company that will digitally place it on a variety of items, such as: coffee mugs, jewelry, t-shirts, stainless steel cups, items for the kitchen, coasters, night lights, and so much more! This will be our fund raiser for the year. I plan on using the proceeds to enrich and enhance our ART program with more materials for each grade level. Order forms will be sent home in October and all items ordered will be delivered in November, right before the holidays. If you’d like to check out the company, go to Arttoremember.com.
I am also collecting paper towel and empty toilet paper rolls to create unique projects with this year. Your artist can drop them off in the office or by my classroom door.
Thank you so much!
ALOHA,
Mrs. Bearman

¡Mucho aloha!
Sra. B
