Celebrate India's Birth!
Finally Freedom!
Great Britain's Rule
Great Britain controlled India for nearly 200 years, but British control was starting to weaken by the early 1900's due to the new-found nationalism in India.
Mohandas Gandhi
Gandhi led the struggle for independence by encouraging the practice of nonviolence, or civil disobedience. He led other peaceful rebellions such as fasts, protest maroles, and boycotts of British goods.
India's Independence
Gandhi's efforts were proven successful when Great Britain granted India its freedom on August 15, 1947.
After almost 200 years of British rule, India is finally free!
With the birth of a new nation, what better way to celebrate than to throw a party! Indians have been rebelling against Great Britain for their freedom and they are now free. In order to participate in the Salt Collecting Contest, be sure to bring your own bucket.
