GRE Staff Newsletter
For the week of December 2, 2019
Dear Team,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends! The highlights for me included dancing in the kitchen with my dad (one of my favs), playing euchre with my brother (although we lost...I'm not bitter...), morning coffee by the Christmas Tree and snuggles galore with my kiddos. It was a very restful break and now I'm ready to attack the 13 days we have with students before Winter Break!
Tomorrow is Waiver Day-agendas have been sent but you can quickly access them here:
This day of learning is extremely important to our growth as a building team. In the Fall we committed to 70% of our students needing only Tier I instruction. All of our work so far has been around our Reading Workshop and high quality instruction within this block. This will be our last big focus and push before switching to Writing Workshop in January. I hope you'll be as excited as I am to dig into this work tomorrow!
Dress comfy and come ready to work! Light breakfast and the Keurig will be provided:)

Winter Benchmarking...Keep Going! You got this!
STAR testing can begin as early as Tuesday. Don't forget the following retest criteria:
-Do not retest a student on STAR unless you have approval from Kate.
A student may retest when:
Student score drops 100+ points
Time taking test is less than 7 minutes (Testing time should be appropriate to grade-level)
Technology issues
Large discrepancy between BAS and STAR (Team decision)
ALL Scores need to be to Stef and Jamie by Thursday Dec. 5th! This will allow us to pull the data for our building goal in order to discuss progress at Data teams
Welcome Colby Myles Doran!

1. As a reminder, we will be adjusting our lunch room a bit beginning Tuesday. Please talk to your students about the changes before coming to lunch. One change will be to have our lunch tables spread out throughout the entire cafeteria space. We believe that this will reduce the noise level. We will now be lining up in the hallway in front of the gym. Katie and I will do our best to be at lunches on Tuesday, December 3rd.
2. Groups will continue to run thru December 19th, if you are not sending students for holiday events, please let Stefanie and Jamie know so that we can tell the team
3. Big Walnut is looking to feature staff again on their Social Media Accounts. GRE will have three dates where a staff member will be featured.
