Kindergarten Round-Up and Registration
Registration for Tipton Elementary School’s Kindergarten is now open for the 2024-2025 year.
Our annual Kindergarten Roundup is set for Friday, April 19. Kindergarten Roundup offers an engaging opportunity for children to visit the school, spend time in a kindergarten classroom, meeting teachers and staff and participate in learning and social activities. In addition, staff can conduct kindergarten screening assessment and readiness skills while our littlest Blue Devils enjoy a special welcoming event.
In addition parents will have the opportunity to provide the required enrollment documentation for their child and register while meeting with the school staff and transportation personnel.
Various community partners will also be present. Each session will be one hour. To sign-up, go to: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044CA8AB28A0F58-kindergarten. Additional information to complete enrollment forms will be sent to those families who have pre-registered by Friday, April 12.
To enroll for kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2024. To pre-register your child, go to: https://tcsc.powerschool.com/public/formbuilder/form.html?formid=1968281

TES Staff Spotlight - Speech Pathology Team
This week we spotlight our TES speech pathology team!
The speech-language pathologists at Tipton Community School Corporation are Mrs. Carolyn Friend, M.A.,CCC-SLP, Mrs. Valerie Watson M.A.,CCC-SLP, and Waneta Key, speech assistant. The speech-language pathology services range from Preschool (ages 3-5) to 12th grade. Many areas are addressed with the speech-language therapy services at TCSC such as language, pragmatics, articulation, fluency, phonological processes, and auditory processing. There are many diagnoses that the trained Speech-Language Pathologists address: language delays, phonological disorders, articulation delays, autism, apraxia, and dysfluency. If a parent or teacher is concerned about the speech and language development of a child, then contact can be made with the school speech-language pathologist to determine the next step for that child. At TCSC, we are fortunate to have 2 well rounded Speech-Language Pathologists with over 57 years of experience, as well as a speech assistant, who is creative and a dynamic addition to the speech team!
Carolyn Friend has been practicing for 36 years as a speech-language pathologist with 28 of those years at TCSC. Carolyn is a graduate of Ball State University with her Bachelors and Masters degree. Before working at TCSC, Carolyn worked in medical settings in Arizona, Florida and Indiana. Carolyn has been married to Scott, her high school sweetheart for 36 years, and has two adult children, Lindsay and Nathan. Hobbies include growing indoor plants, gardening, decorating, reading, and being a part of the prayer team at her church. Carolyn feels blessed to have chosen such a rewarding career as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Valerie Watson is a graduate of Tipton High School. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ball State University. Valerie has been a speech-language pathologist for 21 years. She spent 9 of those years providing early intervention services through the First Steps program. She worked at Tri-Central Community Schools for 6 years and Tipton Elementary School for 6 years. Valerie has been married to her husband, Jason, for 23 years. They have three children: Lydia (20), Emma (18), and Jack (16), and two dogs named Sadie and Alice. Valerie enjoys reading, playing word games, and watching true crime TV shows in her free time.
Mrs. Key was a preschool director and taught preschool for 25 years. She began volunteering at Tipton Elementary School when her granddaughter was in elementary school and has continued for 14 years. She began working in the speech department 10 years ago, helping with filing, scheduling, and helping wherever she is needed.

5th Grade Families - TMS Band and Choir
Join Band and Choir!
5th grade students have been learning about the Tipton Band and Choir programs.
Students who are interested in singing in the choir have been given an enrollment paper to take home for their parents' signature. Simply return the paper to their teachers to sign up for choir. It's that easy.
Students who want to join the Band, mark your calendars to attend the Band Sign-up Night on Tuesday, March 19 at 6pm in the Tipton Elementary School cafeteria. During Sign-up night, students will learn more about being part of the Blue Devil Band. Paige's Music of Indy will also be on hand to help parents rent or purchase instruments. If you already have an instrument, bring it with you and come order a music book and supplies.
For more information about Band, contact Mr. Shaver at rshaver@tcsc.k12.in.us.
To learn more about Choir, contact Mrs. Haynes at jhaynes@tcsc.k12.in.us.
