Grace Episcopal School Vol. 1
A Message From Dr. Ricks
Parents and Friends
It has been so good seeing so many of you around campus. PTF has been busy preparing for our fall events--Grandparent's Day, Book Fair, Evergreen Sales, and Fall Festival. These are rich traditions at Grace, and we need your support and good ideas. We are also thrilled to host a playoff game for the Tackle I football teams in our league. You will hear more information about this in the weeks to come.
Our Lower and Middle School Open Houses will soon be set for September. The purpose of these sessions is to help you understand what your children will be learning this year and how they will be learning it; we hope that you find this time helpful. Please feel free to contact your children's teacher any time you have questions about their work.
With regard to that school work, homework and tests have started in earnest as we finish up our 2nd week of this 9 weeks. If your family is like mine, reviewing homework and preparing for tests took some time management on our part. Except for our preschool friends, everyone has a bit more homework this year than last. This is as it should be, but the first weeks can seem especially difficult. Keep in mind that homework is like working out--the more you do it the easier it gets. As the Head of School, I can assure you that your teachers' expectations of your children are reasonable and appropriate. As a parent, I can agree that it doesn't always feel that way! But, as a teacher-leader, I am encouraged by the thoughtfulness that our teachers put into their assignments. And again, please do not hesitate to contact your teachers if you feel confused or unsure about anything within classroom procedures.
