This Sunday's Message: The Everlasting God
“Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends
of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.”
(Isaiah 40:28)
This Sunday's Scriptures: Psalm 147:1-1, Mark 1:29-39, Isaiah 40:21-3
From the desk of Pastor Paul...
Dear Friends,
Thanks for all who attended our Annual Meeting this past Sunday. Annual reports were sent out electronically as well, so hopefully you’ve had a chance to read about our past year of ministry.
Last Sunday, I talked about several things which will be prominent in 2018 – staffing transition and assessments with the resignation of Youth Director Scott Hobart at the end of March and the retirement of Office Administrator Lynn Lotoczky at the end of April; debt retirement as we seek to retire the remaining $65,000 from our Faith Enrichment Center by the end of September this year, the 10th anniversary of dedicating that Center; and our Major Project of exhibiting the Kingdom of Heaven to the world during 2018 through our mission and ministries and personal lives of discipleship.
On Sunday we will look together at Isaiah 40:21-31 and consider the Everlasting God. It’s so easy to become engrossed in the day to day details of our lives, the daily drumbeat of news events unfolding before us, the “rat race” of work and family and all the different things pressing in on us continually. All of us can easily feel overwhelmed and underprepared to face the things coming our way. Isaiah reminds the children of Israel – who were facing deportation and exile in Babylon – and us, that we need to “lift up our eyes” and contemplate the Everlasting God who watches over us and offers us hope and strength at all times. We find that strength as well as we come together to the Lord’s Table this Sunday to be nourished by the presence of Jesus Christ in and for us as his
followers.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Paul

This Sunday! The Souper Bowl of Caring
Held on Super Bowl weekend, the Souper Bowl is used to mobilize young people to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. Young people collect monetary and food donations during the week leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. 100% of the money and food is then given directly to local charities of the group's choice. Click here to find out more about Souper Bowl.
On February 4th our OLCC,P Youth will be sponsoring their own Souper Bowl event. Everyone is invited to join them after either service for a delicious bowl of homemade soup.
Looking for a church home?
Are you curious what it means to be an OLCC,P member? Beginning this Sunday, an informal series will be held to provide answers to questions you may have. Enjoy some good soup with other Inquirers at the Souper Bowl in Fellowship Hall upstairs before class begins at Noon in the Library.
