On Tuesday, March 26 during 2nd period we will be holding our Credit For Life Fair for 12th Graders. The Credit for Life Fair is where students learn the real-life budgeting and money management skills they will use throughout their lifetime. Thanks to the efforts and support of Cape Cod Five we will be holding this amazing event on Tuesday, March 26. Students will choose their professions, are then assigned monthly take-home salaries, and then navigate 10 online checkpoints to make "purchases" utilizing imaginary cash, credit or savings. The experience also includes a library of “Money Modules” students can utilize before or after the Fair on topics that include budgeting, credit scores, investing for the future, and more. The goal? To learn to live within their budget. Students must make sure they have their charged Chromebooks with them on Tuesday.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Issues
Hello parents, guardians, and caretakers of seniors,
As you may or may not know, there continues to be news and developments regarding the delays in the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. In light of the continuing challenges associated with the rollout of the new FAFSA, many colleges and universities are extending their enrollment confirmation deadline for first year (freshman) students.
The delays experienced by the Education Department mean several steps in the process (including corrections to the form by students and parents who may have submitted incorrect information) will be affected, and collectively, these delays might mean some students will not even receive their financial aid offers by May 1st, which is the traditional enrollment confirmation deadline. Although frustrating, we encourage students and parents to wait until you have received your financial aid offers from each college or university applied to, to provide time to process and consider financial aid offers before making a final college choice for Fall, 2024. For your convenience, I have attached a link to a google spreadsheet that lists new enrollment deadlines for colleges. If you don’t see a college listed, please call the college directly to see if there are any updates.
If you have not done so already, please complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. However, please be aware that challenges with the new form persist.
FAFSA TECH HELP & WORKAROUNDS

What does this mean for scholarships? Since students are required to submit their SAI form to be considered for scholarships, we are in the process of notifying donors that students may not have their financial information available until mid March- April. Students will not be penalized for not having their SAI, and should still submit all other scholarship application materials to meet deadlines, and submit the SAI form as soon as it becomes available. You will receive an email from the Department of Education when your FAFSA has been processed, and therefore have access to your SAI, barring any corrections/changes you may need to make on the FAFSA form.
Good luck, and thank you so much for hanging in there for your student! We will get through this!!

MA Department of Health Announcement
Measles is a highly contagious, potentially very serious illness that continues to occur in the United States largely due to importation. Although measles has been eliminated in the US, international travelers continue to bring measles into the US. Currently, there is a substantially increased threat of measles importation to the US related to a dramatic rise in the number of measles cases worldwide. Notably, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued an alert about several cases of measles occurring in the US related to international travel - to date, 11 states have reported measles cases in their jurisdictions since December 1, 2023.
Measles is one of the world's most contagious diseases and can spread very quickly and cause outbreaks among people who are not vaccinated. Community-wide vaccination with the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine (MMR) is the most effective way to prevent measles. The MMR vaccine is very safe and effective. All children should receive two doses of MMR vaccine to ensure they are immune. The first dose is usually given at 12–15 months and a second dose given at ages 4 to 6 years. Teens and adults who were not vaccinated as children should receive two doses of MMR vaccine. The CDC suggests that 95% of the population needs to be fully vaccinated or immune to achieve herd immunity to protect individuals and communities from outbreaks.
It is required and extremely important that all persons participating in educational programs in Massachusetts are up to date with MMR vaccine and all other required vaccines. Massachusetts regulations specify the immunizations required of students before admission to school (105 CMR 220.000: IMMUNIZATION OF STUDENTS BEFORE ADMISSION TO SCHOOL). These regulations include "any individual from another country attending or visiting classes or educational programs as part of a formal academic visitation or exchange program."
Student shall mean any individual attending, or enrolled or registered to attend, a pre-school program as defined in 105 CMR 220.400, kindergarten through 12th grade in a public or private school, or a postsecondary institution, as defined in 105 CMR 220.600, provided the educational program is offered either on or off-site in Massachusetts. The term student shall also include any individual from another country attending or visiting classes or educational programs as part of a formal academic visitation or exchange program.
These regulations apply to all such visiting students, even if their program is for a short duration.
School personnel should collect immunization records at every grade level from students whose immunization requirements have not yet been satisfied.
Please ensure that pertinent individuals in administrative offices and health sections within your institution are aware of the immunization requirements. Please work together to make the implementation of vaccine requirements a formal part of any international exchange program or academic visitation program in your school at all grade levels.
For questions about vaccine-preventable diseases, please call the Divisions of Epidemiology and Immunization at 617-983-6800 and ask to speak to an epidemiologist.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The state expects a 95% rate for student attendance. We want to achieve a higher rate for the year. We can do this, but students need to come to school everyday. Over the last two years our attendance policy has been more lenient than in the past. This year we will be re-instituting the policy to the fullest extent. Our expectation is that you will follow future employer's expectations. Remember, your boss will expect you at work everyday, and so will your co-workers. Build healthy habits now. Come to school because we want you here!
Tardy
If a student is not present in the class/ shop at the time attendance is taken in the morning, they will be marked tardy and will have to report to the main office for a tardy pass. Accumulation of excess tardies as defined in the student handbook will result in disciplinary action. Being on time is an employability skill. Cape Cod Tech not only trains students in skills specific to their technical area but CCT also teaches professionalism and employability skills to the standards of the industries in which they represent.
Please see below a quick link to our attendance policy as well as other important information about attendance.
