4th Grade takes the Writing Staar Test
Tomorrow, April 9th, is the 4th grade writing STAAR test. Please make sure your students get a good night's sleep and get to school on time. They can eat breakfast at school as always. We look forward to seeing our 4th graders show what they know!

Career Day Pictures- April 23rd!
Cost: $5.00 each photo
Choose a career (or more than one if buying multiple):
lawyer, engineer, teacher, FBI agent, president, reporter, programmer, super model, singer, movie star, fashion designer, doctor, dentist, veterinarian, nurse, astronaut, police officer, fire fighter, military, artist, basketball player, football player, boxer, hair stylist
3 X 5 photos will be delivered back to your child within a week. (Tuesday, April 30th)
If you would like your child to bring their own clothing to match their career choice, we will find a green screen picture to match. Please make sure none of the clothing is green, as it will blend in to the green screen backdrop.

Siblings are more than welcome to attend for the picture, and we will make sure siblings at Mahanay are able to take pictures together!

Time to Register for Full Day Pre-Kindergarten program for the 2019-2020 School Year before space runs out!
Every day Alief ISD Pre-Kindergarten students learn through hands-on activities incorporating science, technology, mathematics, reading, writing, fine arts, and much more. The classes are led by certified Pre-K teachers. Our advanced early childhood program is a place where your child will have an opportunity to experience learning, make new friends and engage in the power of teamwork every day!
Does your child or someone you know qualify? To enroll in the Alief ISD's PreK program, a child must be 4 by Sept. 1, 2019 and meet one of the following qualifications:
- Is unable to speak and comprehend the English language*;
- Is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student eligible to participate in the national free or reduced price lunch program**);
- Is homeless; Is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States;
- Is the child of a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while on active duty;
- Is or ever has been in, the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code; or
- Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer, a firefighter, or an emergency medical first responder.
*Children who do not speak or comprehend English will be tested during registration.
**If qualifying by income, documentation of all sources of income to all members of the household must be submitted in addition to the required enrollment documentation listed above. Parent will need to bring the last 3 months pay stubs and/or last year’s income tax statement from everyone in the household.
Prekindergarten Hours: 7:55 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.
Alief ISD does not provide transportation for Prekindergarten students, however, we do offer after school care if needed. Please request information upon registering your child. Please click the button below to begin online registration.
Space is limited, so please register your child as soon as possible. Registration takes place at Mahanay from 9am-12pm daily. Feel free to begin the registration online using the link below to make it go faster! If you have any questions, please call 281-983-8355 to speak to our registrar.
