Re-Enrollment Starts Soon!
Plan to re-enroll in 4-H
The 4-H year ends Sept. 30. In order to remain enrolled, you will need to show your family’s intent to participate by logging in to 4-H Online and reviewing, updating and submitting the following information:
Your family's contact and demographic information, including club, school and grade.
Each family member's health and emergency contact information.
Project areas of interest for this coming year.
Parental consent required for youth participating in shooting sports/wildlife programs.
You can login to 4-H Online to complete the re-enrollment process after Sept. 15. This guide has more information.
4-H Records Information
4-H Records are due to the Extension Office (1120 8th St SE DL) no later than October 2nd. Please encourage your 4-H'ers to complete records for the projects that they participated in. Secretary and Treasurer books are also due October 2nd to be judged competitively for the Achievement Awards Program.
There are two types of 4-H records:
- Participation Summaries and
- Individual Project Records
- Basic (completed grades 3rd- 6th)
- Experienced (completed 7th grade and up)
- Cloverbuds (completed K-2nd grade)
You can add just about anything to tell your story. It’s YOUR RECORD, so add whatever you think is needed to make it complete (for example: Planning Calendar, Financial Statement, photo page, journal, exhibit and awards, recognition, etc.) All forms of records are available on the Becker County Extension Website at:

2023 SS&W Leader Certification Training - COMING UP!
The following steps must be completed to become a fully certified 4-H SS&W Adult Instructor. All steps in the process can be found in one registration form for each in-person training at Shooting Sports & Wildlife Leader Certification Registration.
- Step 1 - Complete the National 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor online training course - This online training will fulfill many traditionally in-person instruction hours in volunteerism and positive youth development. There is no end date to complete, but will need to be completed prior to attending a one-day in-person discipline training. This course takes about 5 hours to complete. You will only have to complete this step once unless there are major changes in the future.
- Step 2 - View recorded Minnesota 4-H SS&W Risk Management webinar - This recorded session is 50 minutes in length and will be emailed to you. A survey will need to be completed to record completion of the video.
- Step 3 - Attend a one day in-person discipline training - Check the Shooting Sports & Wildlife Leader Training web site for available dates and registration links.
Volunteer Retreat
You are invited to a volunteer retreat on October 28, 2023! “Connecting the Pieces” will be held in the Bede Ballroom at the University of Minnesota Crookston starting at 9:00 am and ending at 2:45 pm. This will be a day of learning, networking, planning and fun! The Minnesota 4-H annual volunteer training "4-H for all abilities - creating inclusive environments for youth with disabilities" is part of this retreat. Cost is $20.00 (refreshments & lunch included). Adult volunteers and youth leaders are encouraged to participate. Registration is open until Friday, October 13.
4-H explorers in ag around the world!
Youth in grades 6-8 are invited to join us as we explore agriculture in the following countries: Brazil, China, Greenland, Italy, Madagascar, Mexico and Norway. This is a self-guided program with optional opportunities to connect with people in other countries. A kick-off will be held via Zoom on Monday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. From there, you’ll be given access to a Google Site to explore a county each week until Dec. 4. A guide will also be provided to help you explore a farming practice within each country. 4-H ag ambassadors will check in weekly to discuss what you are learning along the way.
Registration deadline: Oct. 9.
4-H science sprouts is back for a fall series
Youth in grades 3 and up - Join the 4-H plant science team this fall for a fun 3-month adventure series on seasonal agronomy and horticulture topics. Together, we’ll explore plant science through STEM. We’ll play with leaves to learn how and why they change colors. We'll also discover insects and soybeans. Join us virtually from 5 to 5:30 p.m. on the following Mondays: Oct. 16, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18. Zoom info will be provided upon registration. Sign up by Oct. 5 to receive a project kit to explore during the entire 3-month series. Supply lists will be provided a week prior to our gatherings for members that want to try any of the experiments in a hands-on way. Purchasing the materials for this is optional and not required.
