Hero Happenings
March 2024 - Volume 7, Issue 8
From the Principal
Wow! It's hard to believe it's already March and spring break is right around the corner. Our Heroes both big and small have been extremely busy striving toward success. Thank you for your continued support!
I'm excited to report that we collected almost 4,000 items to donate to those in need during our recent Hygiene for Hope drive. Thank you for helping our Heroes understand and show compassion as we focused on it during the month of February. Our drive provided an amazing opportunity to put this character trait in action. The best way to learn something is practice and I know this service project provided that for our Heroes. I know they will continue to show compassion as they grow.
Read Across America week is set for March 4-8. This is a week focused on celebrating reading and we have fun dress up days set for each day. I hope all our Heroes will take part. House Team points will be given to those who participate. A list of the dress up days is included below.
We are excited for Field Day. It is schedule for the Friday prior to Spring Break - March 8, 2024. Please have your student wear their House Team color for the event. I also highly encourage you to send a water bottle with your student. Hero volunteers help make this event successful. If you would like to volunteer, please sign-up on the sign-up genius linked below.
Spring Break is schedule for March 11-15, 2024. I hope you have something fun planned during this time off with your students. Enjoy the time and have a safe holiday. I look forward to seeing our Heroes back on campus Monday, March 18, 2024.

library for years to come. Making a donation to our library means a “birthday
book” is placed on the library shelves in celebration of your child. If you would
like to honor your child in this special way on his or her special day, simply
follow the steps listed below.
● Make your donation online using School Cash
http://hoover.cfisd.net/en/parents-students/s/
● Complete the information form.
● We will help your child choose a new library book from the Birthday Book
Club selection.
● Students who join will be honored during school announcements.
● A special name plate will be placed in the book.
● Students who join receive a birthday bookmark.
● Your child will be the first to check out the book to read.
Thank you for supporting the Hoover Elementary School Library and your child
in this wonderful way!
Sincerely,
Ms. Schlarmann

Hello Hero Families,
It’s hard to believe it is already Spring and that Spring Break is just around the corner!
This month students are excited for the opportunity to Water Balloon a Teacher! For 75 RISE Cash, students can throw a water balloon at a teacher. We can’t wait to participate in this silly, and fun incentive! Which teacher does your student want to water balloon??
To earn RISE cash students can show their shield every day! Teachers and school staff award RISE cash to students showing Respect, Integrity, Safety and Effort all around the building. Classroom teachers will also celebrate one student’s hard work as Hero of the Month for their class. We love recognizing our amazing Hoover Heroes! Keep up the good work!

The committee will meet four times (September 21, November 16, February 15, and May 16) at 7:45 a.m. in the Hoover Library as well as Zoom if members are not able to participate in person. If you would like to volunteer to serve on this committee or you have a business or community member that could serve, please send an email to Hoover@cfisd.net.
