COVID19 UPDATE
Dear Yancey County School Students, Employees and Parents,
As we continue to monitor the Delta variant numbers in YCS, we are making the following adjustments to our schedules so we can provide some further assistance and direct instruction for our students.
Grade Pre K-5: Seated Instruction
Work packets and food can still be picked up on Mondays for students who are at home due to quarantines.
We thank parents for communicating with teachers via phone, email, and Class DoJo.
Tutoring is offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for students who need assistance with assignments.
Contracting with recent retired teachers to assist students with direct instruction.
Grades 6-12: Seated Instruction and Virtual Instruction for One Week
Work materials and food can still be picked up on Mondays for students who are at home due to quarantines.
We thank students and parents for communicating with parents via phone and email.
Tutoring is offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for students who need assistance with assignments.
Tutoring assistance is also offered to students from 1:30-3:00 each day. (Offered at MHHS only)
Beginning Monday, September 13, 2021 through Friday, September 17, 2021 students in grades 6 -12 will be offered the following:
students who are not in quarantine are to be seated in school and socially distanced each day
students who are absent due to a quarantine from the Toe River Health Department will be required to join and actively participate with all of their classes virtually for the week of September 13, 2021
students will follow their regular school day schedule
Beginning Monday, September 20, 2021 students in grades 6-12 will be back to seated instruction.
Students who are still in quarantine after September 17, will need to work with the classroom teachers to receive their work on Mondays pick up or in the google classroom or in the Moodle.
We encourage students and families to wear a mask, be vaccinated, be tested, and stay home when you are not feeling well. We will continue to work our way through this latest outbreak of the coronavirus. Please contact the teachers, principals or school nurse if you need further clarification.
