Message from Mr. Burns
Hi Wims Families,
Happy St. Patrick's Day! This is one of my favorite days of the year to pay homage to my grandparents who immigrated from Ireland to Ellis Island in New York:)
Thank you to all the students who participated in the Science Fair on Friday evening. Also, it was great to see so many families join the event, as well!
This is a reminder to families that if you are dropping your child off at school via car, you should be using the car loop in the front of the school. The loop on the side of the building is reserved for buses, PEP parents, and staff. There has been an uptick of families bypassing the car loop and using the loop on the side of the building. Your child's safety is our number one priority so please adhere to the specific structures we have established to ensure the safety of students. Your support is appreciated:)

You can find your child’s MCPS student ID in ParentVue or on their report cards. The survey will be available through March 22. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know:)
Game Changer Conference
Calling all parents/caregivers of young male students Grades 4-12! Register your student for the Spring 2024 Game Changer conference and help empower and ignite their path to success. The conference will be held on Saturday April 20, at the Universities at Shady Grove, 8 a.m.–2:00 p.m. Transportation may be available through MCPS from your area. This year's spring conference theme encourages students to see themselves as competitors in life's big game, where trying hard, being smart, and playing well lead to winning their dreams.
Some of the conference sessions include life skills stations, panel conversations, a STEM exposure experience and a parent advocacy academy roundtable.
To foster academic excellence, the conference will also host a student essay competition. Participants are encouraged to submit a 300-word essay answering the essay theme question: “Being a Competitor is a Game Changer: How will you Compete to Win and Own your Future?” Essay submissions are due by Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at GC Essay Contest Submission.
