The Sequiota Scoop
Monthly School Newsletter - November 2020
A Note from Mrs. Wagner
Welcome to November!
We are so excited to see our students at school 4-days a week starting this month! We know this will increase student engagement in learning and help them grow both academically and socially.
With that said, we also know this may bring some anxiety for students and adults alike. Please take some time to talk with your child about the transition back to 4 days and once the transition has happened to help them process their feelings.
We are going to do the best we can to continue practicing safe procedures such as line orders, assigned seating, not mixing students between classrooms, handwashing throughout the day, maintaining social distance when possible, wearing masks, etc. So far at Sequiota, we've had 0 quarantines due to school-related exposures and this is due in part to our practices in the building but also your partnership with us to check for symptoms at home before sending your child to school each day. Thank you for this partnership!
Speaking of partnering, in order to ensure our dismissal goes as quickly as possible with the return of students 4 days a week. Please make sure your car tag is posted in the car line and REMAINS posted until your child is in the vehicle. It's best to hang it from your rearview mirror or visor for us to easily see the child's name.
Lastly, Even with the cooler temperatures, don't forget to send a water bottle with your child each day, our water fountains are closed due to COVID, so it's imperative you send a water bottle with your child so they can stay hydrated.
In Partnership,
-Mrs. Wagner
Conscious Discipline
In order to build our composure skills we use the Power of Perception by taking a S.T.A.R. breath (or any kind of breathing exercise) to bring oxygen to our brain and help us regain composure.
Feel free to watch the video below to learn more about Composure and ask your child to share with you how to take a S.T.A.R. breath or their favorite breathing exercise.
