Giants Dog Outfit
For my first project I made a dog outfit for my aunt's dog with the San Francisco Giants logo on the back. I did not use a pattern or tutorial for this project. The outfit covers just the dog's back and is bright orange with GIANTS in the team fount across the top in black (orange and black being the teams colors). This project emphasized the importance of hand stitching.
I used a basic cotton fabric for the main bodice part and the same fabric but in a different color for the wording. Normal permanent stitching was used to sew the top and bottom pieces of fabric together, but much of the project besides that was hand stitched. The fabric is thin but soft and not rough. One of the main steps (although it was lots more than just ne step) was trying to figure out what type of stitch to use for the wording and whether to use the machine or hand sew it. Yes, I needed to have previous knowledge about how to hand sew for this project.
I chose to do this project because I just visited my aunt in California and one of the things I miss most, besides my family, is their dog. So, I thought I'd make him an outfit with their favorite baseball team on it. Yes this project challenged me because it caused me to think outside the box about how to attach the lettering to the body part without making it look too messy. For next time I could think out all the steps all at once before I start because too often I start and go along as I make the project and run into things that cause me to go back a few steps to redo. I was satisfied with the end result yet at the same time not. I'm satisfied because of how the lettering turned out but I wish more detail could've been added to make it more interesting.
